just rung edf and the chap said the same as the women said this morning, "you cannot do it that way".

    steve............

Personally, I'd go back and advise them that you've spoken to another customer who has done just that, and ask them to look again.

I'll post back in a few days once the paperwork arrives to say whether or not it agrees with what the EDF fella told me on the phone, and what I believe I've just signed up to.

he was adamant that it could not happen, i asked him to log the call which did.
he said that the tariff will likely be there still come sept 30th but it could change slightly.
be nice to see what your paperwork states as one of us is being told porkies.

So what way did they suggest it could be done?

ISTM the fundamental issue is whether they waive the ETC on the occasion of an immediate tariff switch.

Whatever, presumably the paperwork rdtrdt has been promised will shed some light.

they do not charge any penalties for moving from tariff A to tariff B.
you cannot sign up for blue april 14 now unless you start on it now.
you cant reserve/sign up for blue april 14 today but remain on v2 until the 30th sept thus saving 7 weeks at the old v2 rate.
might be worth giving them your reading at the same time, you may or may not want to exaggerate them upwards if your meter has had an actual reading lately, i opted not too but did think about........afterwards.

I emailed EDF this morning and asked about switching from the Fixed S@ver V2 to the Blue+Price Promise. The reply I got was:

Thank you for your e-mail dated 8th August 2012.
I can confirm that you will not be charged any early redemption charges for coming off the Fixed Saver v2 tariff before 30th September 2012.

I haven't decided when to make the switch. I'll probably wait until the end of September and hope the Blue+ tariff is still available.

Hmm. I received the following response from them.....

"Thank you for your recent e-mail

Due to the terms and conditions of the Fixed S@ver V2 you would incur the termination fee if you cancelled your tariff and moved to Blue Price Promise 2014 tariff before 30th September 2012."

Whilst I know they are completely in their rights to say this as it is in the T&Cs of my current product, they should be taking a consistent approach to this and not offering to waive the fees for one customer and not another.

My reply to them will be simple

    1. that several other customers have been waived the charge, so why not in my case?
    2. that if they do not waive the charge and on september 30th EDF are no longer cheapest I will simply move to another supplier.

Considering the Blue price promise is MORE expensive than my current tariff I cant see why they would not want me to switch.
    We shall see........

Reading thru' this thread just confirms what so many of us have already found in our dealings with EDF................not only does the left hand not know what the right hand is doing..........but also the "Customer Services" department should be renamed "Headless Chickens":rotfl:

    this was my email reply

Thank you for your e-mail dated 7 August 2012.
If you register for Blue Tariff online, the changes will only be effective from 1 October 2012 because your current tariff ends on 30 September 2012.

In case you will choose to change your tariff sooner, the penalty will be waved off.

Please feel free to contact us if you require any further help.

I contacted EDF about switching without penalty back in June and got the following reply:

    Thank you for your email.

Yes you can change to our Blue + tariff without incurring any fees. You can call us on 0800 056 7777 and we can do a quote for you or you can do this on our website – www.edfenergy.com

I hope this now resolves your query

    Many Thanks

    Joanne

Seems odd that there are so many different versions of switching, seems to me it should be a simple matter for EDF to deal with, but then I cast my mind back to the fiasco that ensued when signing up to fixed saverv2.

So maybe no surprise that EDF are not much better now than back then!

I just rang EDF to clarify a few things as I was thinking about swapping to Scottish Power's fixed Price Plan. I said that I was going to leave it for a couple of weeks so that the swap occurred in the first week of October, but he told me that if EDF were informed that I was going to leave before the 30th (not actually leaving before 30/9, but just telling them that I was going to leave in October) I would be liable to the termination fees. Surely that can't be right can it?
