    The guy above is not wrong, The Fixed Saver v2 T&C's clearly state that the OP will be charged £25 ETC per fuel if they move to another tariff before 30/9. Not just if they move to another supplier.
    Just log in and switch to your preferred tariff on 1/10.

    It doesn't matter what the T&C's state, if both parties agree they can be ignored. In EDF's case they have chosen to allow internal switches on this tariff.

    I'm in the same boat and switched to the old blue last week without being charged a cancellation fee.

    Scottish power energy november 2013 is looking considerably cheaper for me, but dont know if it will still be around come when v2 ends, so not sure what to do.

    I have just spoken to edf, they wont charge to change tarrif however blue is more expensive than v2 so not beneficial to swap before october.

    Well that is not completely clear (blue:D) thinking IMO.

    In a region I checked at random Blue April 2014 is (only) 4.4% more expensive than your current tariff and is fixed until April 2014 (a full winter more that SP November 2013). So only "4.4%" of late summer consumption. Peanuts relatively. If you are satisfied that Edf will waive the ETC I would say transferring to Blue April 2014 now is a sensible low risk option. And fixing is all about risk perception, especially winter consumption post any increase. Your call.

    As a Fixed S@ver V2 customer, you can register/sign-up for Blue Apr 2014 now, and your tariff will be automatically switched to Blue after Fixed S@ver V2 ends on 30 Sep.

    So the best of both worlds:
    - retain lower Fixed S@ver V2 prices for the next 2 months;
    - then be switched to Blue Apr 2014 come 1st Oct. The switch to Blue Apr 2014 will occur at that time even if EDF have withdrawn the tariff (for new customers) by that time.

    Nice work EDF.

    I doubt it, since EDF's mailshot concerning the end of Fixed Saver v2 contains full details of the Standard Variable tariff, and not a mention of the other options including Blue April 2014...

    No link.

    I spoke on the phone to Customer Service.

    - Confirmed I could switch from s@ver V2 without penalties;
    - I asked to switch now (in case the Blue Apr 2014 tariff was withdrawn before my fixed expired), was advised that the way it would work is that I'd be kept on s@ver V2 until 30 Sept then switched to Blue automatically;
    - Went through the agreement and agreed to the terms of Blue Apr 2014;
    - All signed up, paperwork on its way.

    I did all this in the past hour.

    Will obviously check the paperwork to confirm that it agrees with what I was told, but there appeared to be no room for confusion: the chap was very clear that this was how it would work, so I'll be quite surprised if the paperwork says differently.

    HTH.

    Thanks for all your replies.

    I tried ringing again but still could not get through (their customer service has gone downhill a fair bit recently). I used to get calls answered within 30 seconds a couple of years back.

    So have decided to send an email and if get a positive reply I will do the switch now online. That way if they do try to charge me I will have some comeback.
