I am done here as I have made my argument on facts where the rest of you are "looking at it" from how you think it should work.

Only his 'facts' not real ones! :rotfl:

The question still remains as to why my PO would think a stamp is needed, two of them agreed on it and they were experienced staff. Assuming the RM twitter reply isn't from some temp.

Experienced doesn't mean correct. More often than not with the PO it means inflexible and rude.

I can't believe you are still questioning the validity of your so needed evidence.

That means for the past x amount of years they have been overcharging people. I smell a claim :money:

Also, I'm not interested in what you can or can't believe. HTH

  • Just to bump this thread (IT JUST WON'T DIE!) because I have been on the phone to the royal mail, and they have said, wait for it...

You HAVE to pay extra postage in order to send things recorded that are a freepost address. You need to obtain a physical address or PO Box in order to do it, but it's not possible to send it recorded to a freepost address.

The reason the lady on the phone gave was that freepost items are treated differently to normal items and they won't get signed for at the other end.

The confusing thing is, I like others, HAVE sent freepost items recorded, and they HAVE been signed for at the other end. But apparently that is wrong and shouldn't happen though.

Will definitely be getting written confirmation of this when I write a letter later this week, I will scan and post the response on here as it has caused much confusion.

If the lady customer service representative is correct, then I guess it's just pot luck whether you pay 95p or 95p + postage, as despite being incorrect, the incorrect way does seem to reach the other end and usually signed for.
