I was once on a Virgin Train that broke down. Sat opposite me was an old lady who was worried as people were meeting her at the station. The guard lent her a mobile phone so she could call them. There were also some kids screaming so the guard produced comics from somewhere to shut them up. He spent most of the time chatting to passangers making sure they were ok and helping them re-arrange their travel plans.

I was impressed by this so I wrote to Virgin to praise the guard. They wrote back saying how sorry they were to have let me down, here are some vouchers and we hope your next journey will be more enjoyable.

I think someone didn't read my letter.

It would seem from your post, and a previous post on here, that the people at Virgin Rail can't read. And not just timetables!

£4 vouchers recieved from Tresemme. Dropped them a line to say how much I liked one of their products. Lovely letter back plus the vouchers. Go Tresemme!

I have had a week off so here are the results of some the phone calls i have made:

    My Successes
Shape Lasting Satisfaction - £1 coupon.
Rolo Dessert - Fantastic lady gave me a bar of Heaven chocolate bar (worth £1.39) as i missed out on the free samples and a Kit Kat cup (worth £2.99 on ebay) for answering a question on Kitkat. Definitly the best so far.

    My Failures
Heinz Fruity Custard- My Son loves this stuff but they say that can't send samples or coupons as there is such a demand there would have to be a price increase to compensate. Not sure if i aggree with this view from a multi national company.

I've been sending lots of emails and letters praising services and products I've had and I've got absolutely nothing in return. Not even a letter or email of acknowledgement. But I wrote to One Railway to complain about their service and got a £35 voucher!!

    Fab idea, count me in.

My partner works in retail & always comes home in a much better mood when praised by customers due to the level of bad attitude and verbal abuse they normally get. Makes my evenings better then as well!!!!

Emailed praise to Clairol via their website as their hair dye always makes my hair feel gorgeous, also asked advice on mixing colours, was emailed back thanking me for my comments, answering my query & asking for my address so they could send me a £10 voucher to spend on their products which include vosene, head & shoulders, etc. Spent it in superdrug as they had some bogoff deals.

    Hugs

keep going Black Saturn you will find there are periods where you don't get much back. it's worth the effort because you get to make people feel good and you get compensation in the end. Well done on the comping challenge btw.
