I know that if you send a letter of thanks to ADSA and name the person you are thanking in your letter that person gets a little bonus.

Sadly, it's never applied for my friend working there, Tess Coze-Cheeper. Instead the management just seem to get very angry every time someone puts out a call for her on the store public address system...
  • A year or so ago I wrote to the manager of our local Tesco superstore to praise a particular member of staff (by name) who had provided quite outstanding customer service, by 'going the extra mile'. I was not expecting a freebie or even a reply but was infuriated to learn, when speaking to that person some six weeks later, that he had not been given sight of my letter or even told of it's existance. When he complained to the store's HR manager he was more or less told to b***** off. That's the value Tesco put on their staff!

I have done well with tea lately! E-mailed Tetley to say how much I liked their new red bush tea and got a voucher for £2 (any tetley product). Then we just wrote a letter to PG Tips about how impressed we were by the quality of their free Monkey. Got a letter back from Monkey himself :)and £3.00 coupons valid for PG tips and other stuff like marmite etc. The PG tips address is
    Unilever UK PG Tips,

It definately pays to be nice!

Myself, my daughter and her friend had an absolutely belting day out at Gulliver's World in Warrington. Even tho they both got stuck on one of the roller coasters! We did get a free photo. The whole day was really memorable so when I got home to Kent, I e mailed to say how really nice all the staff were - didn't even get a reply. I wasn't after a freebie, but I was really impressed by the staff. Shame, maybe I e mailed the wrong person, or someone didn't pass it on. Still think it a good idea to say thank you if something is outstanding, and I'm not sure I was after a freebie, just felt really grateful.

Perhaps they thought I WAS after a freebie - dunno! But I say always give credit where credit's due. Doesn't hurt to say thank you.
Ooh, I've gotta little star! What's that for then?!!

I have emailed Nintendo this morning to say thank you after they replaced the cables my dog chewed through for free and very quickly. I am very impressed.

I try and make a point of thanking people for good service as I think it's only fair if you sometimes complain about bad service. Recognising the positive makes you feel better as well as hopefully boosting the morale of whoever you're thanking.

I've never received a freebie as a result of any thanks but wouldn't complain if I did!

I tried this recently, but got nothing.

A few years ago I also decided email companies out of the blue with the following simple message: "Free sample please!"

Unfortunatly i've severely rarely had customer service good enough to praise :(

Maybe its you. I always treat customers that little bit more better if theyre smiley and chatty.
