When I came back I started WW and was horrified with weight  but have perservered and went for weigh in this last Wednesday and lost 3.5lbs :j so now very determined to keep going as want to lose 2.5 stones before Christmas. Just got to get back better then can start more exercise.

Lois would you put me back on the board too please?

Lois Thanks for that. I didnt realise that splenda was free:o (note to self - read book again):D
When I have porridge on a morning I put in chopped apple and heat it in microwave, I was counting the apple as free but now am thinking I have it wrong - if the apple cooks is it a syn??
Had one portion rice pudding yesterday and left one for OH. He's on nights and said " oh I wont need that were gonna get an Indian tonight" INDIAN! No fair... SO... ate his tonight for my tea, which I know is not good.

I dont have far to go to my target now and my OH says I always seem to sabotage everything I've done at this stage. I kind of understand what he means but was wondering if it's just me or do others feel the same.

Suggs I third what Petrichor says. You have done so well so feel proud of yourself and have that weekend with Mrs S cos you deserve it.

Oops sorry forgot to say well done mumoftwins that's a great loss:T

Kat - I've got some medication which I don't find a great help and I was also told to avoid bread, pasta & rice as for me this makes things worse - not great when you like SW green days  TBH I haven't found a lot that helps reduce the swelling - I try to have a lot of fruit and veg and drink lots of water but when I'm having a flare up the fruit often makes my pains etc worse and tends to run through me (too much information, sorry :o ) Its trial and error - my best friend is also a sufferer and what works for her doesn't for me and the things that set mine off are ok for her

Thanks Honey. Yeah i was given some medicine which does nothing really so i just gave up taking it. My only step is to eat low fat food, as anything with high fat makes me feel awful pretty much straight away. (including dairy, so i try to avoid that, but not always)
I have read that brown bread/pasta makes it worse, but that white is easier to digest, and that white plain rice is one of the easiest things to digest, so it's a good thing. see what i mean about all advice contradicting?! lol. I got quite ill recently and ate just really small amounts of rice to kickstart my digestion back on track. and i have ricemilk for breakfast rather than normal milk as it's meant to be easier to digest.
Who knows? it's hit and miss i think, some days i feel better/worse no matter what i eat. i just wish i knew how to get rid of my balloon belly!!!
Does anyone else on here suffer??? any advice?

Big hugs Suggs (hey that rhymes). I dont quite understand...did the company get your size wrong, even though you gave them your measurements? It's their fault, you shouldnt feel bad. Dont worry about it, wear a different shirt, and look smarter. or perhaps look more casual and wear the company shirt (if it is a button up shirt - last year was polo shirts but i didnt see which kind it was this year) unbuttoned with another tshirt underneath? I'm sorry i cant be more help, but to reiterate what others have said, if you hadnt lost all this weight and bettered yourself you would feel 100 times worse. you should still be very proud.

    xx

Sorry if Im confusing things. Problems of writing while ranting. When I joined last year I was given a company Polo Shirt, which was 3 sizes too small "That should fit" I was told in front of the whole of marketing! For next week we were to wear 'Oxford Style' Shirts which are normal shirts with button down collars. The collar size I gave them is the same as the five or six 'work' shirts I have, all fit me fine. The shirt sent to me, again fits fine around the collar, but there is no hope for the rest of me i.e. the waist or belly. This is because it is a 'tailored' shirt which is tapered to the waist. Why someone would order me one of those I dont know. I have Ben Sherman shirts of the same size that fit!

So its probably not a problem or fault of the person ordering, but the lack of consideration or understanding in ordering the wrong style and the lack of time for anything to be done about it, really is annoying. Bear in mind I gave this size ages ago.

I still do not want to look any different to the rest of the team, I want to look as part of the team.

    Sorry

Hi Petrichor - sorry, I must have been having a senior moment. I had this memory that you'd posted something along these lines, but I was going through all the latest posts in the thread and couldn't find it! Now I remember it was a pm.....

It'll be right for next week!

Yes, fruit is free on SW as long as it's in its natural state - once you do anything to it, i.e. cooking, juicing, pureeing etc, it has syns, however a bit of chopped apple in your porridge isn't going to be high in syns, so it shouldn't do too much harm.

  • Came on here to catch up on some of the posts but read Suggs and didn't get any further, partly cos the jet lag has really kicked in but mainly because I had to reply to your post first.

To be honest it made me mad (but I can understand completely how you feel) that you have done so well and generally must be feeling very positive about how you've done and how you look (and remember your fan club on here if you ever need reminding of how highly we think of you and your achievements) and something like this has knocked you down.

I have re-read your posts on several occasions (and particularly the story of your weight loss journey) as you are an inspiration to all of us. I don't have that much to lose but am up and down like a yo yo, (although the gym is a consistently important part of my life even if the eating goes off the rails) and admire your persistency and determination. If I could get focussed like you I'd be slim and sylph like by now! I wish!!

You know how well you've done and although I know exactly where you're coming from (having 'suffered' a similar experience on a smaller scale some time ago, which I won't bore you with here) you can stand proud on that stand knowing that whatever you're wearing you have achieved so much. People attending the stand will notice your personality more than your shirt and from that point of view (from what we've seen on here) you're obviously a winner.

I don't know whether any of the above ramblings are of any help (or even make any sense - mind is a bit muddled not sure what day/time it is and falling asleep on the sofa earlier didn't help!) but please don't let it ruin your weekend.

Anyway, the rate you're going next time you need a company shirt you'll need a smaller size anyway - that'll show them!
Proud to be dealing with my debts

    Sorry

    Hi again Suggs

Why not go to John Lewis tomorrow and see if you can find something similar that fits? They always seem to have a good choice of colours in their shirt department.

p.s. stop apologising! ;) You've got every reason to be annoyed.

Suggs the one thing to remember when it comes to situations like this is yourself, your inner 'look at how well I have done' voice and not let the bug**** drag you down, I know it is easier said that done because you want to look the same as them and why should'nt you? You have worked damn hard as you said, gave the measurements in plenty of time, everything on your part you did right and well it is the order that has gone wrong, not you, not what you did or said or could have done it was out of your hands and it went wrong.

Now all the above does not give you the shirt you want in time I know but like the OP says is there anywhere on ebay that has a fast delivery, any shop on the high street that has a similar shirt, anything you can do? Think practically and see if there is a solution.

I think to a degree everyone has suffered like this, I remember my SIL giving me some tops 'oh these will fit you', I thanked her and was going to give them away to charity or someone else as no way would they have fitted me but SIL would not let it lie and infront of a huge family gathering kept on and on about trying them on, making me feel smaller, worthless and picked on to try these damn tops on.....

As for IBS not me but my SIL has very bad bouts of it, her doctor recommended bland foods and only bland foods, toast, boiled rice, lamb she was able to eat but not turkey, no fizzy drinks, no spices, boiled potatoes, her diet changes though as it is trial and error, one week all the above is fine and then she has to try something else as it has caused a flare up, the medication changes also, she eats crackers and biscuits plain, can eat cottage cheese, it keeps changing....
