Hi rach!
Don't be too bothered by that link of Lewts, which I think was unhelpful. You've already been given some good advice, and all that I can add is that when you find a plan that suits you (try a few out if necessary - but not all at once:rotfl: ) stick to it and stick with us, through both the good and bad times. We all know what it's like

I don't think anyone has said that to me before!
I was about 2 stone overweight towards the back end of 2005. But I'm just fascinated by all this sort of stuff. I find myself rambling most of the time though! :rotfl:
Keep Rambling!!!!lots of love!Sometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -
Hi Guys
Im a newbie to this so please be gentle with me lol
Well I have decided that the time has come for me to diet, after spending 15 minutes this morning trying to get into my jeans and eventually giving up and wearing a skirt, i feel drastic action is to be taken :rotfl:
I have decided to go with SW as I have tried this before and I my friend has given me all her books as she is no longer doing it. The books are old though so there are more syns out there than the book contains. However I have been told that there is an online calculator for syns but a password is needed from the class administrator.
Being a single mum I really can't afford to attend classes, i dont suppose anyone on here regulary posts password do they?
Anyway i've waffled on enough, hope someone can help me, wish me luck with the dieting.
Thanks

Can anyone advise me??
Have tried WW (many times!) but am now desperate to lose weight once and for all!! Have looked at Slimming World but can't believe you can eat so much and still lose wight. Does it really work?? Any help much appreciated! Thanks0 -
Hi everyone! Wow lots has gone on in the few days i havent been online, all that OS/'I wanna' debate was very confusing! Shame so many of the OSers decided to leave this thread, i think we are all a little OS here anyway - cooking from scratch, not eating prepackaged stuff often, walking and other free/cheap exercise etc... it's kinda natural when ur trying to lose wieght to try to do it without your wallet losing too much weight at the same time!:rotfl:
Anyways....been off the computer for a few days in favour of good old fashioned exercise...the weather has been so lovely OH and i have been for a lovely walk for 4 days in a row, and i've even got a bit of a tan! (i'm one of those annyoing people who goes golden brown after 3 minutes in the sun!!;) ) We've been on one short and two medium walks (1-3 hours) to local farms to see the lambs and other animals, and one big long walk to whitstable (we live in canterbury, it's about 7 1/2 miles i think) so v good exercise and my calves are killing me now! However, each lovely day out seems to start well, fruit and exercise, but always end up in a pub! so i've been having at least one pint of cider every day!! Not good LW behaviour!! (where's that spanking pic gone??? lol) We even ended up in wetherspoons one evening for curry club  and pizza hut the next evening  !! oh dear...
So activity good but food bad...hope it evens out!! Had a good day yesterday: weetabix (with skimmed milk - rent is due so i cant afford rice milk!!) with 1/2 tsp light sugar for brekkie
snack - 1 handful pistachio and cashew nuts and a small peice of cheese (all of which were a treat as we got them in a corner shop so we could have a little 'picnic' in the sun!) usually i'd just have fruit.
lunch was turkey salad (lean turkey steak cooked a previous night and shredded into little strips, kept cold in the fridge) and fresh orange juice with lemon juice and a splash of diet lemoade (such a yummy summery drink, i squeeze the fruits myself so that must count for some exercise as it kills my arm!!)
dinner was rice, peas, sweetcorn and stir fried chicken all mixed together like a lazy 'fake' risotto!! had half a kinder egg for dessert as it was easter!!!
The fake risotto was lovely and SO cheap! (take note, any lurking OSers!) My mum 'invented' the sauce when i was little:
Serves 2 people:
1 cup rice
1 cup frozen peas
1 cup frozen sweetcorn
1 chicken breast (chopped up small)
Onion
1 packet any brand instant soup (i used cup-a-soup chicken and leek flavour) <----this bit was what my mum 'invented':o
Cook all the ingredients i.e. boil rice in one pan (12mins) boil veg in another pan (5mins) stir fry chicken with onion (10mins - depending how small you cut it) using spray oil.
drain veg into a jug to use the water (dont want to lose the nutrient-filled water all nice and green from the peas)
empty soup sachet into cup, and fill 1/3 of the way with veg water, mix til smooth but should be quite thick.
put all ingredients into one pan, mix, add soup 'sauce' and then mix it all together.
YUM!!
(the first time i had this i found something crunchy in it and my mum realised she'd left in the croutons from the sachet! everytime i have this now i tell her and say 'it's just not the same without croutons!':rotfl: )
Well i seemed to have gone on a bit, as usual! Hope everyone's well, welcome to all the newbies, and well done to eveyone who's managed to stick to it over easter!!
PS- speaking of my mum, i had a dream that she joined this thread, and I was really embarrassing, coz it's ok when it's a bunch of people you dont know because you can be honest without being judged, but if someone i knew joined i'd feel a bit silly for opening up so much. Or should i just be embarrassed about that fact that I DREAM about this thread!!! Oh dear.....:oMoneysavinghopeful :rotfl:0 -

Hi kat
No sooner said than done - have this for being so naughty
At least you only dream of your mum joining this thread, my DD used to read through LW until I gave her one of theseI don't think she's bothered since :rotfl:
That risotto sounds great, so simple but tasty. It has been copied to my file for future usage. :T
hlp and D3BB13to LW . I'm not a SW follower, but a lot of people here have great success with it. So I'll leave it to them to give you any help.

I personally didn't take to WW as I felt hungy all the time. I love Slimming World as it does work (obviously you have to follow the plan properly). I struggled with the eating too much issue but it really does work and I actually tend not to lose weight if I don't eat enough! They also have brilliant recipes. I have just bought there latest magazine and there are some fantastic recipes in there.
Someone asked about the online calculator. I very often log onto https://www.ivillage.co.uk where there is a diet and fitness message board and then a slimming world board. They are very helpful on there and if you ask they will tell you the sins in anything if you ask. Good luck.Quality is doing something right when no one is looking - Henry Ford
