    Hi :hello:

Ooooh!!! I'm a creature of habit too, but I hope some of you lovely folk from the OS thread decide to stay with us. I can understand that some of you want to keep with new dieters, but I joined this thread back in January and was very glad to have the benefit of the experienced folk when I hit a bad patch after a few weeks. We are a friendly bunch following a variety of slimming methods and it's good to have other peoples' views; we have a laugh too along the way, because at times it does seem a hell of a long way :D .....

....but I do seem to remember that Murphy's gang chose not to be merged.... I also understand that these forums do not generate an income to MSE, so I think we should be grateful that we have this opportunity IMHO...

....back to business...Lois I did my normal weigh in today and have lost 0.8lb I'm a bit miffed with this as I wanted a 1lb loss to take me into single figures but at least I didn't gain. Would you prefer that I post my weight stuff on Wednesdays? Like I said above I'm a creature of habit:D

Hope all you chocoholics are getting back on track ;)

I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

What has happened while I've been away? Whats all this merger talk?
I moved on 31/03/07 and have finally got myself sorted and internet back on.
I will be weighing myself tomorrow to see how I'm doing but before I post can someone just let me know if we are still posting here or if there is a merged place:confused:
    Thanks guys

i wanna lose 6st at least by aug 2008, we are getting married then.
At present i am just under 16st and im a 5'2" woman, i have done slim-fast but i somehow cant seem to stick to it, i cant get by on one meal a day, and cant afford to buy the slim fast meals etc, i buy slim fast milkshakes and adios last year i did this and lost a stone in 2 months but was feeling ill with not eating all day, i do roughly an hour of walking altogether every day except sunday sometimes more never less.
Cant do slimming world etc cos of commitments with kids and my OH work, and even if i could i dont fancy it anyway.
Can anyone offer any advice at all??
also i have quite a large overhang because of c-section 3 1/2 yrs ago whats the chances of reducing this if any?? or will it just end up a big flap of skin when ive lost the weight??

thanks in advance for any replies

Hi Rach. I know there are a few slimming threads on the go but just wanted to give my thoughts.

Firstly, don't look at this as a diet. It is a lifestyle change. Don't take this the wrong way but the reason you are whatever weight you are is beacuse of a) what you eat and b) the exercise or lack of that you do.

It's all very well going on a diet and losing a stone but as soon as you go back to your old ways it goes straight back on.

So the first obstacle is to find a fitness routine and diet (note not a diet) that you will stick with for life.

By finding something you enjoy you are more likely to stick with it. Both food wise and fitness wise.

Are you a member of a gym? If not do you think you would stick to it? Perhaps if you have a friend you can go with you would be more likely to keep it up.

Regarding your skin. The longer you take to lose the weight the more time it will give your skin to adjust. Not just that but you are more likely to keep the skin off!

6 stone in 16 months is quite alot! Thats 5lb a month. But probably could be achieveable. Exercise is the key to it all though. I don't want to teach you how to suck eggs but it's all about getting your body burning off fat and only exercise will do that at the rate you need.

Hope this helps in some way. I can't think of a better motivation than your wedding day! Maybe you can stick something on the fridge to remind you.

    Best of luck. :)
