Hiya Rach!
i'm trying to lose weight by counting calories, i've tried weight watchers, slimming world, aitkens, pretty much everything else going!!!
why don't you have a look on the i wanna lose weight thread, i post on there regularly & they/we are a really friendly bunch
there is loads of support & advice and somebody following most diets. we also do a weekly weigh in. i don't go to a class but put £5 in a jar every week when i weigh in & post my loss/gain (:o ) online for the 2lb club.

If you really don't think you overeat and you think you are eating healty food try keeping a food diary for one week, be honest with yourself no-one else needs to see it.
If there is a particular style of wedding dress you want to wear cut out pics and stick them on the fridge, biscuit tin, wherever your weakness hits you. That will give you a check point before you indulge.
I struggle with my weight too, the slimming world "diet" is very healthy, you don't have to go to a class to use it.
Excercise helps a lot, for a start if you have worked out you are less likely to waste the effort by eating cake or choclates.
I know my downfall is wine, I won't give up completely but I have cut down to a healthy amount per week and I try not to drink between Sunday and Friday for instance.
The amount you want to lose is probably not realistic in the time frame, rather than feel you are not acheiving anything why not set smaller goals for yourself, much more motivating and easier to keep going. Say drop a dress size in 3 months fora start?
Finally good luck, it's not easy to change your life but it will be worth it in terms of increased energy and there are massive health benefits for you.0 -
Hi Rach! you got moved :hello:
day 1 again todayand i was doing so well, i had 1292cals Wed, 1351cals Thurs, 1573cals Fri & then went to my sis's on Sat/Sun  never mind back on track again, fruit salad for lunch & then off to the cinema this afternoon to see Mr Bean, maybe i'll lose some weight by laughing :rotfl:
that business with OS was confusing & when i started reading itat least we're sorted again

i think what i should really is i am a size 18/20 and would idealistically(sp?) be a size 12 but for my wedding no bigger then 14, my mum has suggested i buy a dressmakers tape measure and a diary and keep a diary of my waist, thighs and bum measurements, do you think this is a goos idea?
and honestly i dont overeat, more so since xmas before xmas we decided we are gonna start eating better as a family and we have been doing so, i trully think it is the times of day i eat and lack of excercise, i dont need to keep a diary i eat the same things on weekdays(mostly) its on weekends we have treats and dont always eat the same as thats when we all go to town for shopping/clothes etc
my target is what it is so that i can buy clothes in our area, i dont know if it is the same near you but they seem to think fat women are old women and most of the clothes i find for my size are things that my grandma would have worn, im only 26, lol0 -
Hi Rach- welcome to the thread. Dont look at the whole amount you want to lose - break it down into goals which are more achievable then you wont lose spirit and motivation. We currently have a challenge about to start on this thead - lose 5lbs by Bank holiday Monday in May although you can set your goal lower or higher if you wish. Why dont you join in with us? I havent met a challenge yet so dont be worried if you don't make it - no-one will shout at you :rotfl:
Keeping a food and measurement diary is a great idea as there may be weeks that you dont lose any weight but by measuring yourself you can see what differences you have been making. People often assume that you overeat and thats what makes us the size that we are - this isnt always the case and I believe you when you say that you dont. Try and increase the amount of water you are drinking each day as this will help with the weight loss, increase the amount of fruit and veg that you are eating and limit the high calorie treats - although don't deny yourself them as you will only crave them more. This is a great thread and there's always loads of advice and motivation so why not stay with us. If you read the first post on the thread you will hear about our weekly weigh in club and find links to a low fat recipe collection.
Welcome aboard and good luck0 -

I was about 2 stone overweight towards the back end of 2005. But I'm just fascinated by all this sort of stuff. I find myself rambling most of the time though! :rotfl:0 -
