Hi all. Up at the crack of dawn cos I'm like a child at Christmas and can't sleep for excitement Sad or what??)

Any way, thought I'd have to pop on and see what I missed yesterday and of course, once again there are several newbies to welcome and several people to congratulate on their weight losses, notably Victory - well done indeed!!

Felt I must comment on Stokegal's post, as it worries me to see your dependence on pills.
Please, please stop taking them. They may or may not help you lose weight, but they for sure, won't help you keep it off. The only way to do that is with a proper healthy eating plan. I love Slimming World, but if it doesn't suit you, there are lots of other plans. You need to be eating a variety of nutritious, filling food and drinking lots of water (you can use sugar-free squash, but try to cut down on the fizzy pop).
You may find it will be harder for you to lose weight in the beginning because you've done yourself no favours with the extreme measures you've been taking, but when your body begins to realise that you're not going to starve it and the food is coming in regular doses, hopefully, it will respond by your metabolism getting back to where it should be and the weight beginning to come off.
Eat up to 6 times a day - small, healthy meals of around 250 cals (if you prefer to calorie count). This helps to keep your metabolism humming away all day. Do not cut down your intake too far as this is self-defeating and please, ditch the pills.
I really feel for you, I have a daughter your age who hates herself since she to went from a size 10 to an 18 in a matter of 3 years, but losing weight is a long-term thing and there are no short cuts to being successful.
Good luck and do keep posting.

Flis - I would opt personally for the chicken in bacon and ask for no sauce and see if you can have a salad with it instead of chips or mash.

Well done Beanielou and Mamaden - seems 4lbs is this weeks lucky result - great work to you both:T

Hugs to you stokegal - Your meal plan doesnt sound too bad. Had you been following SW this would be a near perfect "green" day, except you need to eat more! Its ok to have crisps or treats daily, as long as you count them into your meal plan/calorie counting and can stop at one bag! If you need to drink squash or fizzy drinks make sure they are diet/sugar free - do try and drink at least 2litres of water each day - this will help too. Try not to get down about it, its been said many times on this thread but here it is again - Dont look at the total amount you have to lose, break it down into 7lb chunks and work towards each one. That way you won't lose interest and will stay motivated. Ditch the pills, they are only a "quick fix". Think of the money you will save - you don't need them! Stick with us on this thread and you won't be lost for motivation or advice! Oops, just read Consultants post and once again, wise words!

    Fantastic result mamamden:j :j :j

Stokegal... consultant is right, the tablets you have to ditch them....to everyone on here it has been hard, impossibly so for me at times but determination keeps me going and to get my BMI down and be healthy and the only way really to do that is to find an exercise you enjoy and look forward to in my case walking and cycling as I do not like the gym and cut down on processed foods, high calorie intake.

These dietitians make millions out of us when all it is common, sense eat less, exercise more and it takes time, while you are waiting it will make you healthier and happier to see the weight go and so it is a win win situation....

Welcome newbies (lol, I feel like I start every post with that message these days)

benjacksmum - I am a serial diet starter as well. I’m very, very, good everyday but then I have to get out of bed and go to work. It’s the getting up bit that does me in. If I could stay in bed I’d not have access to the fridge! :D

Don’t be afraid to go back to your doctor. They will not judge you but will help you get back on track. Do you know which healthy eating plan you’d like to follow? Do you have one in mind?

This may sound harsher than I mean it to be but please take it in the way which it is meant to be taken – only you can help yourself. Only you can control what you eat and how you exercise but there are some fabulous people in this thread who will give you all the encouragement you need. Have a success and we will celebrate with you. Fall off the wagon and we will bandage you back up and hoist you back on track. Get stuck and need motivation – just ask for a nudge in the right direction.

Plan more than one day at a time and shop for your needs for up to a week. I always find if I shop everyday that something which I just fancy always ends up in my trolley (and stomach) which is bad for me. Sandwich shop? Oh my sympathy! You could hook me up to a bakery and just drip feed me bread. It is my biggest weakness and I only succeed in controlling my eating habits when I cut it completely out of my daily intake – which (as you can see from my continuing failure) I haven’t quite managed yet but I’ll get there eventually :D

stokegal – Oh I know this has been said but it cannot be said enough. Ditch the pills!!! Total waste of money IMHO. Comments have already been made on your menu but I’ll add that you need to be careful about the ‘buttered’ bread. Switch to low fat alternative or try using a light cheese spread.

The losing interest happens to all of us if you do not vary your intake enough. Possibly you could pick one healthy eating plan e.g. go back to the SW eating plan and watch for the ‘getting bored signs’. At this point you could take a bit of a breather and ‘maintain’ for a short period before tackling the next small targeted weight loss.

I notice that in your signature you are ‘Proud to be finally dealing with my debts’ well you need to apply the same kind of attitude and conviction and also be ‘Proud to be finally dealing with your eating habits’

I’m not an expert but stick with us and I wish you both success

lol victory – you’ll frighten Petrichor out of the thread if you’re not careful!!!!

flis21 – I’d also go with what honey 28 suggested.

Belated welcome back to suggs – having that much meat on one plate would probably make me a vegetarian :D

    Hello everyone,

I'd like to join the thread please! I've used weightwatchers a couple of times in the past and lost a stone here or there. Since then I had a baby (who is now 2-n-a-half) and I've never lost that much weight since having him. At first, I was too zonked, breastfeeding & he would sleep on my lap, so I spent lots of time sat on the settee with him). We lived in a bad area and there was nowhere to safely go for walks and no play areas to take him to, but 2 weeks ago we finally moved to a house with a large garden and in a nicer area. I have mild agoraphobia and can only go out with someone else, so can't go out for exercise during the day. However, I'm digging my garden over for making new beds & growing veg, after that's ready there's also an allotment at the back of the garden so I've got space to get outdoors & get some exercise.

As well as this, I've only just started cooking two days ago, the first time I've been responsible for my families meals (Hubby likes cooking & is good at it, but now works in London so is home too late to cook). As you can imagine, I'm not very good at it and don't entirely know what I'm doing, I made a vegetable hot pot on Monday, a WW mushroom stroganoff yesterday, and today is macaroni, Spinach and cheese bake, which I think I found on this site. I'm trying to meal plan, save money, get / stay fit and healthy, lose weight, and get the garden planted with veg & dug over - as well as the usual housework and looking after a 2 year old! I find it very easy to lose impetus and postpone it - oh I'll eat better tomorrow - and I'm awful at drinking enough - Hubby leaves at 7am and quite often comes home at 6pm and I haven't had a drink in between - it just never occurs to me, for some reason.

So yes, I don't even know what I weigh - just that my clothes don't fit too well and that I'm not pleased with what I see in the mirror. I'm a firm follower of Trinny & susannah & feel that I dress well for my size & shape, but now even these clothes aren't looking so good on me. My mum is thin and diabetic, my MIL is anorexic, and I don't really have any female friends - well I have one but she's even bigger than I am and touchy about it, so I can't talk about it to anyone...thank you for letting me waffle.

Such a long last post that I've added this separately - I gained 1 lb. Not as bad as it could have been having just spent 4 days at an exhibition where I could eat / drink what I wanted curtesy of the Company but still...

... it means I've only lost 2 lbs in however many weeks. Now I'm mad with myself but mad is good. I intend to double that loss in the next week.

Are you saying you hope to lose 4lbs in a week? That's a very tough target to set yourself. I know several people on here have managed to lose that much and it is a fantastic loss, but the reason it's fantastic is because it's unusual.

My loss has been slow, but I'm getting very pleasing results with the tape measure.

    Morning All

Caught up with the posts, and what an assortment. Some happy and some very touching ones from new people, to whom I can only say that you have been given some very wise words from other posters, if you copy and paste these to a word file, you can print these to refer to whenever you want, I've found that to be helpful. We do know how you feel, but you are not alone here. Look on us as one huge absorbent shoulder that is here 24/7 for the bad times, which, you will find, will diminish with time.

I thought the following just lifted the mood nicely:
