Get rid of it all, it has no place in your house, it is only temptation and that is what you do not need, kids or no kids ( I have 2) you do not need all the sugary high calorie weight gaining stuff in your house, GET RID:D

Look at it this way...if you or someone you know was a recovering alcoholic you would not just put one in front of them to see if they wanted it/drank it/went backwards on their challenge to be alcohol free? It is the same with food, why make it harder for yourself by having the items in your house?;)

How can I get rid of my kids easter eggs? They are both as thin as rakes so weight isn't an issue with them, and I'd rather they learnt good food habits, such as a piece of chocolate egg (as opposed to my version...scoff the lot!), cake is for my boss tomorrow (so really mustn't touch that!) crisps I've bought myself snack-a-jacks which I love and aren't too bad...got to have a treat sometimes. So really it is only the biscuits, which we don't often have in the house, they won't get bought again for a long time!

HI MS London & welcome to this thread.
Sure someone will be along with some ideas for you soon.

Hiya. First time I've been back since I posted (post #806) and beanielou - you were the only one who seemed to notice my post, so thank you very much!!

I wasnt asking anyone for medical advice, but some words of encouragement or support would have been nice - we all know how hard dieting is and it helps if you can "talk" to others in the same boat (with or without a thyroid condition), it must have been something I said?

Anyway, I have been to a specialist to seek advice & it seems my condition has worsened, but at least it (hopefully) means it can be fixed. Still waiting to hear...

Perhaps it was something I said but I hope that when YOU post here for help next time, feeling very low, I hope that someone does help & not just write you off.!

Have a nice day guys! xx

Hello everyone, and welcome to the new members!

As the title says, another 2lbs gone this week! Been working really hard, drinking all that water, eating at least 5 portions fruit and vegetables each day, and trying to stay away from the biscuit tin.

I even ventured to step yesterday  First time I've been in six months - last time I went I couldn't keep up (depressing, as pre-baby I used to take in at least two high energy classes a week). Anyhow, managed to work really hard yesterday without collapsing!

Debbie I've got a 2 year old, who has loads of sweets and chocolates bought for her by well-meaning grandparents. I've found that sticking them in a tin on top of the fridge works in that they are hidden (and I can't really reach them :rotfl: ). Might be worth having a cupboard or something where you hide the high calorie things away?

Good luck to everyone this week - keep at it, it will work!

    Take care
    D,

Hi ms_london. I remember reading your post. I'm afraid I don't know much about your condition and I can only imagine how the weight side of it must be absolutely awful for you. I also have an uncontrolled illness that is indirectly making it difficult for me to lose weight. I am sorry to heat that it has worsened and I hope that you seeing the specialist proves useful with your medication and diet advice. Will you have to wait long before you hear anything? :grouphug:

Hi freebiehunter - thank you for your post, I really appreciate it! The weight issue is one aspect & perhaps the one that has MADE me look into it a bit more, have been having some other side affects too which I didnt even know were linked!! I have another appt Sat (a lot more $$$$ but worth it!) so I should have a better idea then when I've heard her diagnosis & she's seen the blood results. Although its not good news its gotten worse I am pleased it wasnt just me imagining things and something was wrong.

Ooops, I've rambled!! Sorry to hear that you are struggling too - I hope your illness isnt anything too serious, but obviously, I really feel for you & know where you are coming from. Is there any help available to you?

I've learnt more in the last week than I have in the last 26 years!!

Thanks again for your message, it makes me feel heaps better!! xx

Hi ms_london. Yes there are often lots of other nasty symptoms with some illnesses that you are not told about and you feel like you must be imagining them or are unrelated. I only know what I have read about your condition and the symptoms look pretty nasty on top of the weight issue. I aim to lose one pound a week. Some weeks I do manage it and some weeks I just stay the same, it can be very disheartening but I am just happy not to be gaining! Lol! It is probably too hard for you to be able to do even that at the moment but hopefully when you are on correct medication it may be slightly easier. I have got uncontrolled epilepsy which means I have to eat whatever I can when my sugar gets low and often I actually forget whole days (and everything I may have eaten-lol!). I am waiting on hospital appointments to sort me out with meds and everything. Anyway it is me that is rambling now. Hope you have a nice day. Speak soon.x.

    well done Ishtar:j :j

Debbie my kids also had easter eggs but they have them in their own wardrobes in their bedrooms and they can have them whenever they want to...like you say my entire family including the kids are like bean poles so they should not have to change anything because their mum is weight watching but also they do not have to flaunt it so the compromise is for them to have it elsewhere, outside playing with their friends, when they go round for tea, upstairs when the kids are playing, not infront of my face, that is unnnecessary:D

I make sure the kids always have a healthy balanced life but if they want to have treats (saturday is pocket money day and they get their sugar rush from Woolies!!) or want a take-away (chicken shop on fridays they love) they can have it whenever they want to, I just do not buy it in, have it in the house...

i asked people not to buy my dd to many easter eggs and instead get her a pair of socks or underwear this worked with some and not others.. we still ended up with far to many eggs for one child so my dd made chocolate crispies with cheap own make cornflakes and rice crispies took some to school as pack up and gave most to her mates ..

she enjoyed making them and enjoyed giving them to her mates and got rid of allthe chocolate in the house YIPPEE
