I really think you are making a huge mountain out of a lighthearted molehill here. And from supportive PM's I have recieved from other members of the group they seem to agree with what Im saying.

First of all the thread is on the FREEBIES forum and not The Money Savers Arms where most chats/discussions take place

Secondly try reading the very first post - THIS "DISCUSSION" was NEVER intended, and the following posts on the first page immediately accused the moderators of being corrupt and cheating the system.

If you don't like FC, how it is run, the people that use it, THEN LEAVE.

If you make an offer, just DELETE all the responses that are short, curt, rude, grunts, demands etc.
Reply only to the polite and thankful emails - hopefully they will be the same in the flesh when you meet them.
If they are GREAT, if not then make a note of their userid/email - you NEVER have to email them ever again let alone meet them.

You seem to be taking this very personally I have to say. Like I stated earlier members of freecycle groups all over the country have posted to this thread over the weeks and the only moderator to take issue is you.

Taking the second point first, I would suggest 99% of moderators DO NOT know about MSE itself let alone the existance of this thread.

on all the local(ish) groups that I'm a member of (12 actually) on the home page for each there is a FILES link.
This contains ALL the admin posts regarding all the policies of the running of FC, pets, cross-posting, subject line format, no use of addresses & phone numbers etc. etc.

All have a courtesy policy that contain wording similar to ....

I'd like to think that within the context of humanity and the more specific
context of the Freecycle(TM) community, we are all (at least) friends. As
such, we should show each other courtesy and understanding.
At the end of the day, folks, it's up to the donor to determine to whom a
particular item will be gifted. There is no first-come, first-served policy.
Having posted a Wanted for that same item does not give me "first dibs" on it.

We should always remember to treat any item received as the gift it is, and the
donor with the politeness and respect s/he deserves.

If you have a problem with someone not showing up, not responding to subsequent emails, or being abusive please report it me or any other moderator.

Lots of good offereds on one of my groups today including a rocking horse and 3 piece suite. The funniest wanted was for a naval uniform - don't know why that tickled me ...:rotfl:

i used tobe jolly and love freecycle it isnt the freecycle i dont like i love giving my stuff to people who need it and rightly so as it is no good at the tip but it is just amazing what you guys as members dont get to know about,and i think we should all be a part of it as it isnt the mi5 it is a social group where we can chat get to know one another and give and recieve wheres the problem,

PLEASE DO NOT THINK, AS I DID, THAT THE SYSTEM TAKES CARE OF PETS!!!

People on this group have been led to believe that an experienced lady
with many years in rescue has been available to over-see PET queries.

For atleast the last 2 MONTHS!! this has *NOT* been the case. None of
the group owners can get in touch with her despite many attempts to do
so and she just "stopped" doing anything without a word to anyone.

Despite there already being a 2nd PETMOD who was trained - she has
blocked this person out of freecycle PETMOD and refused to work with
her with no explanation at all. Instead she has reportedly trained a
3rd person (which she has managed to visit and talk to - while still
ignoring group owners she is supposed to represent!!! !) who has not
been agreed by any of the ***********shire group owners, and as such
we are all unaware of any rescue experience she may have, and put her
in place without a word to anyone.

I hilighted this to the group when it first happened and it was
ignored, I also proposed being clear and explaining to users that was
ignored too.

PLEASE DO NOT RELY ON FREECYLE GROUPS in ***********shire to Offer or
Wanted for pets. The system *DOES NOT* and *WILL NOT* work as not all
people involved are willing to co-operate.

PLEASE DO NOT THINK, AS I DID, THAT THE SYSTEM TAKES CARE OF PETS!!!

Seems the pet mod didn't agree with what the local owners/mods were doing and locked them out. Now the mods wont allow pet post because they have lost control.
