THANKS for saying that as the rocking horse is .....my offering i got 6 replies after all rude/demanding deleted now which onedo i pick?

What a lovely thing to offer! I can imagine loads of kids enjoying having one of those. It brought back memories of when I was little.
Hard to pick who it should go to - sometimes putting names into a hat solves the dilemna! :)

I don't know, go for a rare evening out and miss all the [STRIKE]drama[/STRIKE] fun:o

this came in whilst I was absent - and I think perhaps it's rather apt:

has anyone got some strong wire mesh to make a rabbit run from

although I think any rabbits would be better advised to run from someone with a VERY large saucepan:eek: although I hasten to add I refer to no particular recent posters:p

Re the rocking horse - sometimes I find reading back over the previous postings on freecycle can help - i.e. you find out who the 'serial' wanters are . However I am sure you will find an appreciative home - who wouldn't love a rocking horse.

The flipside is the lady who just asked for a Playstation 2 and an incar CD player. Neither of which I deem to be essential items!

For me freecycle should be about people in need. People who dont have a lot. Not about people who decide on a whim they need a CD player in their car!
I think you are now missing the point
Freecycle is not about need but about stopping landfill and saving the environment.

This is quite true and although it has been mentioned many times on this thread, sometimes people need to be reminded.
Freecycle is nothing to do with people in need. Who you yourself give your items to, is up to you.

This is true and there could be more manners but at the same time who are we to judge others by what they want?

NB. pulliptears I don't follow I have an Opinion as valid as anyones and I have the right to state it. You have been out of order to quote the group completely out of context casting a bad light on the group and the members. All for a cheap laugh at others expense, then you have the gaul to bash on about manners!
I wouldn't want anything from you anyhow so go ahead block me. As we don't know who you are I will not block you but as you have a picture of yourself on this site then if you turn up at my door for something I have to offer you will have a wasted journey. I too have the right to give to whom I want.

Maybe I am missing the point, and I am picky who I give my items to. It is however incredibly annoying and extremely rude to recieve a message simply stating "I WANT IT".

As I said earlier, I got very disillusioned with it all. Having given so many items and been thanked just twice tends to do that to you. Whilst Tamsin.Follows stated she had sent an admin reminder about "respecting other members" it did not actually say in it anywhere that manners would be appreciated.

Personally, were I running the group I would send out a gentle reminder that please and thank you costs nothing. A reminder that replying to offered posts in all capitals saying "I WANT IT" is poor etiquette. A reminder that its always nice to thank your giver. That its always appreciated if you actually turn up when you say you will so that your giver doesnt spend half the day waiting in for you. A reminder that its not acceptable to contact group members asking for first dibs on anything thye offer!

I cant recall whether Tamsins comment was here or in the cafe group but she did state that they moderated unreasonable wanted posts, this is not the case as I illustrated a few pages back with the post from the gentleman who required "A Harley Davidson".

After my last round of offereds I did decide that any unwanted items I had would now either go to charity shops or ebay. Frankly I got sick of being messed about. Neither do I take any offered items.

I wont tar all members of this particular group with the same brush as there has been the odd nice member, but judging from PM's I recieved last night from other members of the group it would appear that Im far from alone in my thoughts here with several other members experiencing the same problems.

Its human nature to be greedy with wanted posts, I just think that somewhere somebody needs to draw a line.

Anyway, enough of the arguing! back to the sillyness! Any good ones this morning?

I look at it like life. Of course there will be annoying and extremely rude people out there, but there will also be those wonderful people you meet everyday. a bit of both, freecycle just seems to bring out the extremes in people I think.
Part of it I'm sure is because its via email and we all know how rude some people can be via email........ cos its not the same as face to face is it?
Partly because some are in it to make money no doubt and lets face it, they are hardly the brightest lightbulb in the shop...... and partly because freecycle attracts some lovely people who do want to really make a difference.
