Barclays Tax Beater Cash ISA - experiences so far (merged)

My wife was going to take out the Barclays ISA but due to the less-than-satisfactory experience I've had with the delays and the hassle of having to visit a branch so that a Customer Advisor can basically redo the online application form again, she's gone for the NS&I ISA instead.
This experience has not only made me recommend to friends and family not to take out the Barclays ISA, it's also put me off ever considering banking with Barclarys ever again.0 -

Confidence. I'm full of it, honestly.
At least that's more than what I got today. I was told that I would hear something by 22 May (7 weeks after I applied for this blasted ISA for 2006/07 year), "but whether that's an update or a confirmation that your account has been opened, I can't tell". I shall followSo basically, if you don't like your own timely investment strategy being jeopardised by crappy administration, then complain.
and complain about this, especially about the shirty A****** Ben that got annoyed with me for asking one too many questions about my application!0 -
:j Hi i was just wondering if anyone out there like me are still waiting for their Barcleys TAX beater ISA to be opened!
I have contacted Barcleys and have been told that intrest would be honnered from the day it opened but i only opened it to start it off with a few pounds and now i have what i want to put in it and cant so i have soo lost out and it still hasnt been opened!!
i gave them 1.00 cheque towards end of march with intention of moving 2999 into the isa as soon after 6th april as was realistically possible bearing in mind easter non working days, my isa pack was finally received today :j :j :j with letter dated 9th may saying date opened 4th may
ive already complained that i have been disadvantaged by not being able to move 2999 into my isa due to barclays delays, ive further complained that barclays have failed to meet their own time scale for answering the complaint :rolleyes:0 -
I am still having difficulities with my ISA. After hearing from the ISA helpdesk, I have now been advised barclays cant find my application form, and that i should cancel my cheque with my bank (this was given into the branch on 26th march 2007). I was told to go down to the Peckham branch - LONDON to speak to christian - personal advisor at 1pm. I was advised to take passport, driving llicence and a recently utility bill.
christian had greeted me as Mike (my name is Lee). he asked me some questions. and who i gave my form into, blarblar. the member of staff who checked my form is currently off sick so he checked her in tray and found my application and cheque. Looks like it had been sitting there for a while, he told me the helpline had given him the name mike, if he had been given my correct name he could of found me on the branch system.
Its now been sent off from the branch to glasgow (ISA people) - i wont be banking with this organisation again, these have been simple mistakes.
I did not even have to cancel the cheque or even attend the branch in the first place, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm come on barclays, as a major organisation, u can better than this!!Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
Its quite scary how we are all quite happy to bank with Barclays but yet have as much trust in them as we do dubyer
I hope it all gets sorted for you Lee and you are right, there is no chance in hell of me moving any of my other banking matters to them.
I did mystery visit at a few of their branches this week and it hurts me to say this but on the ground level they seem to have their bases covered just wish we could say the same for the company heads
p.s before anyone flames me for mentioning company name, I have deliberately left out the company I did the jobs for :cool:DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
I applied for this a few weeks ago... I phoned Barclays last week who stated they had a back log with applications and i would hear by the end of this week at the latest. However im getting concerned now as i have 3k in my current account which im waiting for them take out. Im worried they have lost my claim, as i haned it into my local branch seing as i was going there and it said i could on the site.
Im going on Holiday at the start of next week, should i shove the money back into my ICIC savings as im losing interest by it not being there, but then i run the risk of stoping my application if it does ever go through.
What do you recommend? I hate the thought im loosing interest, due to the bank not implementing a proper system:mad:
I think a strongly worded letter should be carried out anyway....0 -
Opologies i didnt see the isa forum, but can anyone help me wether its worth while waiting, or just chuck it back in my ICIC account?0

It's worth having a read of the thread about Barclays tax beater ISA on the other forum. You'll be able to get an idea of how long applications lodged at different times are taking:

Barclays have promised to backdate interest to when you applied so you shouldn't lose out on that score. I'd leave it be until you come back from holiday.

Hi all
I'm going to apply for one of the above for my 2007-8 allowance. Has anyone applied for one recently and, if so, was the experience OK? How long did it take etc?
TIA
Suze
Just got one on last years allowance. took 3 weeks to get anything back as i applied through the woolich. Welcome pack didnt say how much money you had invested. Called them and i am still waiting for a reply. They tell me its because i have applied through a branch that is still to be changed to barclay...Think they have been over welmed with applications and cant cope...0
