Its quite ridiculous isn't it Sarah! I dread to even think what the chaos is going to be like come next year when it is time to transfer out :eek:DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -
Well they cashed my cheque today which was only for £400! Haven't received confirmation it's been opened yet or account number etc so don't know how to pay extra in.
When I went into the branch to query why it was taking so long they said that the interest paid would be backdated - can they be trusted to do this, do you think?0 -

I would say you could, they told me the same thing. We'll see once the interest is paid. It's quite a bonus if the money was already sitting earning interest as you'll be earning interest on the same money twice.0 -

PPPS Rant ends here for the moment.
The "welcome" pack has arrived:j
We have a banking code leaflet - nice to know that it is so comprehensive it has not needed updating since "March 2005".
The covering letter is dated 03may07Snail mail ?;)
Sortcode20-44-55,A/c no 12345678, Date opened05apr07:rolleyes: :j
Balance?
Is it £1, £1,000, £3,000?
Is some of it now in 07/08?
Lucky Mrs Hound, another Saturday morning in Barclays.
Harry.
PS I've just had a wicked thought: Taxman will think Mrs Hound is on the fiddle if/when he finds two bits of ISA in 07/08; so he will send her a tax return? Ah a shared experience as we BOTH scrabble around, trying to fill in one of those multicoloured monsters :wall: :wall:
PPS No not really snail mail, the PO claims from their stamp to have delivered the 1st class letter in 2 days. So rest of the delay must be Barclay mail? (I wonder if it came from Leicester, when I worked there we had to send mail over night to Bolton. The PO's collection used to take two days BUT if the secretary dropped it into the box at the sorting office on her way home by train to Loughborough, then it arrived the next morning. Well that was in the 1960's ! In the 1890's a clerk in London could send a post card to his wife in Peckham at lunchtime to let her know when he would be home for supper.)0 -
Applied for 07/08 on 10th of April, still waiting.
I am not going to waste my time chasing them as they state all interest is backdated.
The longer they take to cash my cheque the better, as its sitting in my A+L account earning interest already, so I'm getting paid twice
Opening their ISA has certainly turned me off ever wanting to bank with them, they are obviously a shambles....0 -
I went into a branch on the 7th of April to open one for the 07/08 year with the full £3k with a cheque. The branch meeting took a while as the woman faffed around missing various bits off of the application form but then all done (even got a receipt
)
Foward a month & finally having repeatedly checked my online banking the account appeared with nothing in it, then finally the cheque appeared on the 8th of May so currently 1 month of missing interest.
If they do backdate it which judging by one of the earlier posts in this now monster thread I should find out on the 1st of June. If this is the case then despite the wait I am quite quite happy as the cheque came from an account paying 4.2% net so for that month it should have earnt a nice 10%ish overall.
Still yet to receive a single thing in the post though.0 -
i opened my ISA account in the branch on 26th March 2007 for tax year 2007/08. I opened it with a £100.00 cheque, but still not heard from barclays. i telephoned the ISA helpline on 4th April to enquire and tell them i wanted to deposit the reminding 2k, and was advised to send the cheque into them. they now have 3k of mine, but still heard noithing.
i tried ringing the ISa helpline, but a recorded message tells you, they are busy, its been a month and a half now, should i be concerned?Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
Lee, I presumed that you opened it with a cheque for £1000 and not £100 as you originally stated in your post ? If you did open it with a cheque for £100 and they said that you should send them a cheque for the remaining £2000, then I should start being concerned, (that they don't realise their mistake and only credit your a/c. with £2100).
I am a little concerned that you are wasting your hard earned pennies listening to some bint telling you that they are rushed off their feet.
"the 0800 number is 0800 282 390
It is a general complaints line rather than ISA specific."0 -
Just rang the 0800 complaints number and was told that my ISA has been opened but I will not receive acknowledgment for another 2 weeks. Original application was handed into local branch on 5th April 2007. I was assured interest would be paid from date of original application.0
