I sent my filled in, printed off, online form on 20th March for the ISA to be opened for tax year 06/07. After many frustrated phone calls having not heard a dicky bird, I have just received my ISA details that the ISA was opened on the 8th of May 07! More frustrated calls later they said they would look into it. I hope I don't lose out on back dated interest and the opportunity of investing more for this tax year.

Lee, I presumed that you opened it with a cheque for £1000 and not £100 as you originally stated in your post ? If you did open it with a cheque for £100 and they said that you should send them a cheque for the remaining £2000, then I should start being concerned, (that they don't realise their mistake and only credit your a/c. with £2100).
I am a little concerned that you are wasting your hard earned pennies listening to some bint telling you that they are rushed off their feet.

    "the 0800 number is 0800 282 390
It is a general complaints line rather than ISA specific."

Hey eddie, thats for the response, I have contacted customer services who have put me through to the helpline. first cheque: £100.00 second cheque £2900.00 Total £3000.00.

Customer services has put me through the ISA help desk. A friendly lady has told me i have not been set up on their system at the moment. After asking for information, she has now put me on hold. She has told me the branch where i first opened the account has not set my account up online. i told her i gave my application in to barclays on 26th march 06. After a few minutes of listerning to music, the lady came back. She told me as i handed in a application form online the branch assumed i had set myself up on their system and simply sent my application form to Glasgow. Glasgow are now going to send my application form back to the branch in london. the lady said she would record my enquire as a complaint and took my number (i also took hers). she will get back to me today.

Seems like everyone who down loaded a application and handed to the peckham branch in london will experience the same thing!! Maybe the trotter family from "Only Fools and Horses" are running the branch in peckham.

The lady just telephoned me again, said glasgow will be forwarding my branch to East Dulwhich as thats my nearest branch, mmmmmmmmmmmm this is my first experience of barclays, and my last, how strange is all this!! She did say she will check to see if the application is there, and will also ring branches else where close to me, more like "what a carry on" than "only fools and horses" any thoughts anyone???:confused::confused::confused:

Already a Barclays customer so downloaded the application form and sent it off on April 18th and still no word. Cash hasn't been debitted from the barclays account yet.

I did see a notice on the barlcays website mentioning the backlog, and I'm sure it said backdated interest would be honoured, althought I can't seem to find that page anymore...

Sorry if this has been posted already - didn't want to trail through all this mammoth thread.

Always send it Recorded Delivery. If they lose it after that it's their responsibility. It's worth £1

Hi Lee, about to give them a call in a second mate.

Should mention that I didn't send a cheque, just gave them the account number and sort code of the barclays account to take the money from.

Will give an update when I get off the phone
