    Just call the 0800 number and say you can't remember whether you already applied for the 4% offer. They'll quickly confirm or otherwise.

    I too have vantage accounts (2 of them). I've also managed to upgrade them to the 4% interest status and managed to setup 2 DD's on each account to qualify for the new rate. I even setup a DD on a dormant LTSB Avios/ Air Miles MasterCard which I only took out for the bonus points on application. (cheek or what !)

    I already cycle the 1000 monthly in and out of them as part of my monthly cycle to maximise my interest payments given to me by various banks as follows

    LSTB VANTAGE 1 (now 4%) -->>
    LTSB VANTAGE 2 (now 4%) -->>
    Santander current account (presently 5%) -->>
    HSBC current account (presently 6%) -->>
    Bank of Scotland reward (free £5 per month) then it's £1005 into -->>
    Norwich and Peterborough BS Gold Account (to qualify for free debit card transactions abroad -->>
    Then back into LTSB VANTAGE 1

    Looks and sounds complicated but it's not, it's the only way I can future proof my savings against interest rate drops and also maximise other benefits had by holding a current account with an institution. For example regulat saver with Norwich and Peterborough gives you 5% interest if you hold a Gold current account. I already have a first direct account which is where my employer pays my salary into so I also qualify and hold an 8% regular saver with FD. You need to be organised with all this but you only need to write it down once and set aside 15 mins each month to do the transfers.

    Next month the Santander 5% interest on the current account expires and the 6% on the HSBC current account will expire in January. Therefore the LTSB Vantage will assist with those interest rate drops and my 3.2% esaver with santander will be used as a feedr account. It just shows how the interest rates offered have dropped in only one year. There is nobody offering 5% or 6% now.

    Hi innovate. Just tried that. He could see nothing to say that it had been put on to the 4% rate - so I assume it hasn't. But rather than doing it for me he suggested that it might be that the branch was only processing requests in batches - and he tried to transfer me to the branch to sort it out at that end. I'm doubtful (the immediate interest credit must mean that something was processed immediately) but since the phone wasn't picked up by the branch I'm none the wiser. I'll leave it a few days and then try again to see if I can get the error message. If not I'll go into the branch again armed with the 380/13 internal code.

    That all sounds too long-winded. Why not phone them again and ask them to do it for you over the phone? They obviously haven't done it correctly in branch in the first place.

    Yes, that's what I would do. And not even mention that you had been to the branch before, that you called before........just say you want to register for the 4%.
  • I am also puzzled about references earlier in this thread to a BLUE upgrade button since (so far) I've only seen GREEN buttons.

    My upgrade buttons are now green and still produce the error on accounts that have been upgraded.

    Could someone who has done the "upgrade button" test on accounts that have been correctly set to 4% and also on accounts that haven't been correctly set help me please.

    1 - When I log in I see a list of my Classic Vantage accounts. Each has three buttons to the right, one of which is a GREEN "Upgrade account" button.

    2 - Clicking this takes me to a page extolling the virtues of upgrading to silver, with a GREEN "Upgrade to silver vantage" button.

    The upgrade buttons are no longer purple they used to be but they are now green.

    I have 3 4% accounts (all with money in) and the upgrade button on the front page always goes to the error message "there is a problem"

    My OH has 3 accounts 2 of them with money in 1 with nil. They were all set up as 4% in the branch actually 1 was over the phone the other 2 were in the branch. only the 2 with money in show the error message the one with nil balance goes on to show the virtues of a silver account. They were done at the same time in the branch so it has nothing to do with timescales, it is simply that the 3rd account has not been set to 4%, whether that has something to do with the nil balance or not I do not know, but we will get it fixed eventually.

    Now got 3 vantage accounts at 4% set up - usual current account and two additional Classic ones.

    Had a bit of a memory 'mare doing the two DDs for the second Classic and had to write it all down! Now got two Tesco online savers:

    T1 getting £1.00 from CV 1
    T2 getting £1.00 from CV1 and £1.00 and CV 2

    CV 1 sending £1.00 to T1 and variable amount to Camelot
    CV2 sending £1.00 to T1 and £1.00 to T2

    Looks easy when I write it down.

    Will fill up the accounts to £6,000 in the next couple of weeks but have already got £1,000 in each so set the cycle rolling.

    I'm sure it's all OK now so thanks for the various bits of advice.

    I was happy with my 2 4% vantage accounts, but when I visited the branch today to check the second had been setup correctly, they persuaded me to open a third! It went along the lines of "I see you have 2 accounts already, which are near the maximum for interest calculation purposes. You can have three of these accounts, would you like me to open you a 3rd?". Never expected to hear that from branch staff, so I didn't refuse.

    and they continued... "I'll need to put why we are opening this account, is it ok for me to just put 'Savings' ?"

    Of course, I had to listen to all the usual marketing b/s, but I bet they get forced to read that from the screen and can't really do a lot about it. I've no problems with that though for what they are giving away :)
  • Yes now they are green buttons on mine, but still refuse the upgrade on clicking them.

    Don't be afraid to click on them as you have to go through another screen at least to upgrade to one of the AVAs it also seems that this is a good way to check if the account has been upgraded or not.

    I have a 4th Vantage now (not upgraded to 4%) and the upgrade button the 4th is active, so something they do on upgrading the vantage blocks adding a AVA to them.
