Ombudsman first, its free and if it doesn't work then you can go to court however you can't do it the other way round.0

Just to say that after 1 year I have had my hearing today in court against Citi Cards, They didnt show and i was awarded £1900.00 Just hope they pay up now......Dont accept their offers (unless you have too) and keep going
Good luck !!0 -
After receiving statements from Citi-cards, i send them a letter (Martins template) requesting a full refund of £1250 plus interest
I had a reply from Citi Card today, basically telling me to go away. They make reference to 12 cases they have won in court and have said I can go the The Finance and Lending Association (Compliance Manner) or the Ombudsman if I am not happy with their response.
Very clear from the letter than this isnt going to be easy !! No offer or suggestion of an offer and the letter reads in a way that they have closed their file
Not sure where to go next - The Ombusman or Court ??
Any advice greatly appreciated
Thanks
The cases they refer to are actual cases, but they haven't actually won them, they have either been by default, or where the claimant hasn't put up a good enough argument for the judge to rule against citi and has agreed that £12 is a fair charge and has ordered the difference between the £12 and £25 to be paid out. Of course Citi don't mention the amount of cases they have lost in court which is many more than 12.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0 -
Hi there
i got some money back with my charges but it was the difference between the £12.
they would owe me another £500 (at the time i needed it to pay a debt off)
i did not sign anything.
What is my next steps? do i d smallclaims? any body have any templates that i could use?
Thanks for your help

Have tried searching for similar thread but no joy so posting here (please move if needs be)
My OH took out a loan with Citi Finance and is paying back £69 per WEEK until January 2011.
Until now due to other problems he has not been in a position to consider this but when his bank offered him a loan at a cheaper rate they tried to get a settlement figure out of Citi who refused to give it, even with him there!
We have written to them and when we finally got through on the 'phone they wanted to charge £30 for a statement. He asked them to just send the figures and they said they would but never did.
If he just stops the DD they will no doubt charge him for defaulting. We have written again saying that unless they provide a settlement figure we will take the matter to the FSA.
Not really sure what to do next, any thoughts? There is always light within the dark0 -
Hi Aunty Jean ,
I'm a little confused, is it just a normal loan that he has been paying and only pays £69 a week
or
is this loan that has gone on to a lower payment that was a higher amount (say £100) that he can no longer afford?
You might be better asking this on the Debt free wannabe threadMember of change Pip's name back to PIP club

It's only £69 per week and has been since he took out the loan but the APR is 26.9% variable. If he could move the loan to his bank he would be able to pay it off sooner at a lower rate. There is always light within the dark0

I wouldn't waste anymore time, I would ring the FSA and FOS and complain.DS1 12/10/04
