It's a lot less than some of us would do to her.
Poor animal.
Umm - is there a possibility that your sister is rough with her as well? If she were to be a bit handy with the physical side when nobody's looking, that would also explain how the dog has got worse since being there.
Sorry if I have offended you, but she seems to be doing everything else wrong and would mean the poor thing was responding quite reasonably to the situation.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Buttonmoons - you are great! You have been trying so hard to help your evil sister. Please keep helping the poor dog as much as you possibly can - she sounds like a bit of a poorly animal.0

Well done honey, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. We know you offer your sister a ton of support you are not just hard on her.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0 -
My mum has already picked up some of her slack (walking it - albeit a 10minute job) feeding it, letting it out in the garden - My mum actually doesn't like any animals - no really! I have 3 cats and she quivers in fear when one jumps near her, I don't think she has even stroked the dog but happily cooks it lamb chops to eat!
My sister went into town today to buy the dog a muzzle - the dog can't be trusted not to go for someone at the mo - I told her straight - muzzle it.
Noooo she's definatley not rough with the dog, my sister isn't a bad person, she's just incredibily naive and I really do think she has some sort of cognitive impairment as she certainly doesn't act almost 19. If anything, she's too SOFT with the dog, hence when she gives it a command, it usually ignores her unless shes dangling a bit of ham, my mum uses authority in her voice as its probably her worst nightmare to have the dog jump up on her or you know....actually touch her lol.0 -
Would your sister enjoy clicker training with the dog? She could teach it tricks as well as recall and leave, so discipline but in a fun way. A clicker is a few pounds and there are loads of videos on YouTube.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Not sure, I may buy her one for her birthday though!
Half my sisters problem is sheer lazyness, wants to slob about in her bed till lunchtime, or leaves it to last minute to get up for college - I usually start calling her around 7am telling her to get out her pit and walk her dog before the bus.0 -
The vet was quite frankly a waste of time!
Didn't do blood tests - there was no need too she said (despite me saying that she may be having fits) Gave me piriton for the dog, told me to bring it back in a month to get neutered......and she needs a behaviourist (wow really) as she has "scary things in her head making her pee and bark"
^^^^ She really said that - *bangs head on wall*0 -
How frustrating. Can you see another vet at the practice, maybe someone more senior?0

I think it's a case of get who's available - it's PDSA so I don't think you can request someone in particular? I'd feel really cheeky doing so aswell :-/
On the plus side, the dog looooooooooooooved the bus, all the old dears were over stroking her and tickling her big lugs and she was lapping it up - the men on the bus didn't phase her either she was quite happy for all the old dudes to touch her too - just seems to be when they enter "her" home.
Funny thing is, she hates men (or appears too) but she loves the old disabled man at the end of my mums road, he really has got issues, alcoholic, very lonely, etc etc, doesn't eat, and the dog happily lies in his bed with him (its in the living room) and gives him some company - we all go down to visit Peter, but naturally life does get in the way sometimes, but he's always gushing about how lovely the dog is and how it watches him when he sleeps - bless.0 -
Did you get the name of the vet you saw? Maybe phone up and say you forgot to grab her name, could they please tell you it for future reference. Then, for your next appointment, phone up and ask which vets are on duty which days that week - and book an appointment when she's not in? You could perhaps go back in a few days or next week and say that, sorry, you're still having issues/concerned about something else and wanted another opinion.
Might be worth bearing in mind that often fits aren't treated unless they're recurrent because it can be hard to find an actual cause - dogs can often just fit and never had a fit again, or have them so rarely that it's not worth putting them on daily meds (which have side effects of their own to worry about). I know it's often the case that one or two fits go untreated, a big fit may warrant being given medication to use in the future (often a suppository), but frequent fits may be looked into further and result int he dog being medicated for them.0
