No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries in August!
Comments
-
Hello ladies!
I have an out- a sample of nivea soft- it was ok.
I've just done a HUGE chemist direct shop for next year ( I've been told the PGCE is so busy that I don't have time to get sick). I've bought all my antihistamins, vitamins, vaporub etc and the nearest I came to buying toiletries was getting some polytar shampoo.

Could it be that I am cured?
Amazing! :T :T :T
Very well organised and it does look like you're cured!
I'm off to London soon (eeek! Still in my pjs ) I'm going to see Derren Brown's Svengali show :j (I'm a bit scared as I'm the most suggestible person on earth :rotfl:) It's a late birthday treat from my friend. I'd better go and get ready :rotfl:0 -
I am continuing with this challenge in August. UU's have been slow. I have mainly used up hotel freebies recently. The only IN's I have from July to report are magazine freebies, got the REN set and the Balace me eye cream and moisturiser. Not planning on buying anything in August.
Good luck to you all and have a nice weekend. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
Boots points:£39.21. Extra money in 2012:£674.59. In 2013 £603.48. 2014: £85. 2015: £0 :j0 -
I have an IN to report already
. I bought sun lotion for my holiday and honestly don't have a stash of this. I'm going to Rhodes and have already bought a factor 30 (but that was in July so doesn't count!) Today I bought Aloha Sun Lotion SPF 25, 250ml. Never heard of the brand. It was a cheapie in Home and Bargain so hope it is OK.
I should have more outs than ins for August, unless I go mad at the airport. I've got a few splutterers and I'm planning to take loads of my small sizes on holiday to use up. I tend to pamper myself more when I'm away so should use lots of the products I can never be bothered with at home.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
I have more ins all freebies still haven't bought anything yet mind you its only the 4th.

Well done for starting your stash list, Noelphobic :T :T :T
Not everyone needs to do a stash list but it was the most helpful thing I did - it shocked me into action!
I think it's very sensible to do it a bit at a time. I found it quite enjoyable to do (although I did have a 'what have I done??!!!' panic in the middle of the process :rotfl: Everyone here was very sweet and encouraging so I got through my meltdown pretty quickly!). You have lots of smaller sized things on this list so you should be able to make good progressI started with a few 'easy wins' to get me off to a good start.
I have a complete stash list with everything divided into simple categories (that was when I really appreciated that I have a lifetime supply of facial skincare and body lotion - it becomes clear what your weak points are very quickly ). I also have a used up list so that I stay encouraged. When I post a UU I say what number it is but (again) not everyone does that. I have an awful memory so it's my only way of keeping track of how I'm doing. (Quite honestly I seem to be very slow at using things up - very :money: but not so good for the challenge...) Kiplingmonkey has an amazing sounding spreadsheet system - this is beyond me but one useful thing that I copied from her is that I now record the date of any new ins (not that there should be any). In the long-run this will help me determine which things need to be used up first
Anyhow. VERY GOOD LUCK!
I did do a stash list ages ago when I first started posting on one of these threads, but think it was over a year ago. Will have to see if I can find a link to it. The only problem is I will probably be shocked to find that I still have lots of things on the orginal list!
I would be very interested to hear more about Kiplingmonkey's spreadsheet system. I have been managing my finances on a spreadsheet for years and it does help to know where I am up to and when I need to cut down - sounds like a spreadsheet for toiletries would be a great idea.
I am going to list what's in the bathroom next and add it to my inventory. Then there's the kitchen, the dining room, the living room, my bedroom, my son's bedroom, the spare bedroom, my handbag, spare handbags, suitcases, work ..... :eek:3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -

I also have a spreadsheet system - with my original list, UUs and INs taken out and put in (also a tally of how many of a certain type of product eg shower gel that I've used). I also have lists for each month with UUs and INs, and how much I've spent. It's geeky but it helps me keep track of things
Another IN for me today (a freebie in the post):

I got a UU, I got a UU, I got a UU:rotfl:
Sorry I got a little overexcited but my UU is an L'Oreal Everpure conditioner sample - my hair is so fine it lasted me for 4 uses - yup 4 uses from a flipping sample:eek:
I thought I'd have another UU soon as I've cut open the SD Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser - but it aint going to be finished any time soon - there's at least another 10-12 days worth in there
Been to TC (Trafford Centre) today with a buddy and came back with 3 cans of Mitchum deo - not going on the naughty step for these as I'm using my last one, these were on offer in SD for half price and they are my HG deo's......am I excused then?? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I was supposed to be looking for some evening shoes and bag for my cruise but the deo's all I came back with (unlike my buddy who nearly bought the place out!!!);)
