Well I didn't get the chest of drawers moved last night as I realised it would make too much noise, so just left everything as it was and went to bed about 2.30. I have done it today though. Cleared the things that had fallen over when I moved it, then dragged it back into place, tipped it over onto the bed and pushed/pulled it over. Not easy as it was face down, with struts for drawers pulling bedcover with it. Managed to get it stood up on edge of bed and tried lifting it off. Not a good idea as was far too heavy and legs catching on bedclothes. The legs of the chest that is, not mine :rotfl: I tried so hard, putting my shoulder inside, under the shelf supports and telling myself out loud 'come on Susan, you can do this, you can' but that turned into 'oh no I can't' :o. Quick think about it, tipped it on its back, back onto the bed, and slid it forward and onto legs , stood it up and manhandled it into place. Mr 3Dogs would have been proud of me:j. I needed a little rest and then got drawers out of bathroom and put back into the chest. Job done but that was me finished for the day, phew

I still have loads to clear in the bedroom before I get the wardrobes delivered, hopefully later this week, but I am slowly getting there. Even given the amount of stuff that has gone to tip, charity shop and kennels (for bedding) the room is still packed with clutter. I am going to have to be so ruthless when sorting it all. Lots of what I am keeping with have to be bagged or boxed up and go temporarily into the sitting room until the wardrobes are in place and they can then be put away into them. I have 2 double and 1 single wardrobe with overbed bridging unit coming, so I am hoping to get most stuff in them ........ and out of sight :o. Then I just need a white high chest of drawers to replace the dark wood one I have been moving, and a new bed frame or divan base. Plus some sort of desk unit behind the door for my tv, desktop computer, printer, etc. the room will still need painted and the flooring done, but by then it will be just as I want it :j

    I'm tired just reading that!
I've actually got myself into a few similar situations moving heavy things around myself. I once managed to trap myself in the becroom and had to ring a neighbour to pick the kids up from school as there was no way I would get out in time :rotfl:
I think you are making the right decision about the dogs, I know you must feel guilty when they go into the kennels and they will be on your mind all the tine they are there. A lot of people want an older dog so don't worry too much, you have to do what's right for you as well.

:rotfl: :rotfl: at you getting yourself trapped in the bedroom :rotfl: :rotfl: Thanks for your kind words about the dogs dibuzz, several people have now told me the same about older dogs, so I hope she is ok. I get details of the dogs for rehoming from the local dog rescue they will be going through, and have noticed that 9 out of 10 are 2 year old or under, but I was thinking that they may rehome the older dogs other ways. Will be speaking to them this coming week anyway . . . .

Been lurking for a few months. Just like to say as an animal lover, giving-up your doggies must have been heart-wrenching.

Anyway, evening guys. I haven't done any clearing the bedroom today. I didn't get to sleep until 6 am and didn't get up till 3 pm :o Took the dogs out and a scrapman lorry was in the next street, ringing his bell. I told him that there was an old broken hydraulic jack out the front of the house and that I had some other bits for him round back, so he took the jack and sorted through the stuff in the garden for anything metal, getting that out of the way. He also quoted me £60 to clear the rest of the stuff and there's lots there I can assure you, so he is coming sometime tomorrow to clear that out for me. I have cleared the hallway tonight so he has a 'clear run' front back to front door ;)

It will be well worth the £60 to get the rubbish out of the garden, it will make such a difference :j :j :j :j

yes, I can't believe he is charging you! He is going to make that kind of money himself selling it! so he will get double his money  when he comes tell him you know he will sell it and make his money and most people take for free for that reason!

If I read it right 3Dogs is paying to have the non metal stuff taking away.

3Dogs, just wanted to say that you have made a very tough but brave decision for your doggies and I really hope that they find loving homes very soon. The youngster will be snapped up and there are places like this: http://www.oldies.org.uk/?cat=4 to help find a home for your older lady.
