Hiya gang, quickly posting before getting to sleep. I heard from lady at dog rescue who said her ex-neighbour had seen Bess's photo and fallen in love, so she is going to see her on Monday. Molly's details are now on their website, so hopefully she will not take long to find new home
Anyway, my plans to drive up North this morning had to be changed when I just kept pressing the snooze button time and time again. I didn't get up till the afternoon and ended up driving up at 6pm. Plenty of light snow flurries on the way, but almost white-out for 20/25 minutes on A1around Retford/Worksop turn off. Then it got really heavy again as I got to my sister's house and it is still lying out there now
Odd Mothers Day it turned to be as, not only have I not seen her as I didn't get here till 10pm, she has been quite ill this afternoon. She had bad diarrhoea and then sickness too from mid-afternoon and the nurse was quite worried as Mam has had antibiotics a few times lately and worried that this may be clostridium dificile which would be very very bad. They have to put her in isolation which means keeping her door closed and restricted entry, using gowns and hand wash, etc. will have to see how she is in morning, buy they did say they would ring if any change and they haven't done so yet
Right, I must get some sleep now after that tiring journey. Night night guys - sleep wellMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Evening guys. Last night's snow stayed most of the morning but then cleared in the bright sunshine, though we have had the odd flurry throughout the day
The nurse rang this morning and said that Mam had been comfortable during the night, there had been no more sickness and her motions are more solid (sorry if tmi). They are waiting for results back tomorrow but in the meanwhile she in on infection control, with her door kept shut at all times, and anyone entering it must wear gloves/aprons. She had eaten a bit of her lunch when my brother went down earlier but she hardly ate anything tonight for me and my sister
They had brought her 2 x quarter sandwiches, one tuna and one with a thick slice of ham, but she wouldn't be able to bite the ham one or chew it as it was too solid, remembering she is supposed to be on soft foods. They normally bring her soup, 2 or 3 sandwich quarters, plus a light whipped dessert, but when my sister went up for soup for her, she came back with spaghetti hoops as they had no soup tonight, or pudding. We tried Mam with a tiny bit of the tuna sandwich but she struggled with it, twisting her face and shouting 'ouch' as she swallowed it, and then putting her tongue out saying 'sore', and then she would not have anymore, though she did have 3 small spoonfulls of spaghetti hoops. The nurse said they had checked her for thrush in her mouth/throat and for mouth ulcers, but they say there is no sign, but she is definitely suffering and that is why she is not eating, we feel
She got tired and fell asleep when her nebuliser was on her, and was settled when we left to come home. We will just have to see how she is tomorrow
Hope the snow is not too bad where you all areMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Thanks hun. My brother said she ate about a quarter of her lunch. When my sister and I went down tonight, Mam was really bright and cheeky, smiling and giggling. She grabbed my hand as I leant over her and pulled me close laughing, and then my sister went to the other side of the bed and she did the same to her. Not in a distressed way at all, in a loving and caring sort of way. It was lovelyBut, as soon as her dinner came, which was soup, 4 sarnies and whipped dessert today
, she started twisting her face. She tried one small bite of sandwich but chewed it a little and then went 'no, yuk' and spat it out into tissue. She then reached for her desert and started on that, but we had to feed her most of it. She did have it all though, but refused the soup after one spoonful
She has been drinking plenty though, and they are charting her fluid intake, with the carers/nurses going in each hour to make sure she drinks. She seemed to enjoy the Ensure drinks today, and had a whole one and started another while we were there, so that will fill her too
After eating, and having her nebuliser, she was in more negative mood, turning her head away from us, so I went round the other side and gave her kisses from there and she smiled again and my sister then managed to kiss her from other side. She wouldn't say bye-bye but did return a wave as we left
They are waiting for results of tests but she had been ok today, with no sickness or diarrhoea at all, it is just this food problem now
Tomorrow, I am going down to see her at lunch time to save my brother his normal Wednesday rush from his Healthy Hearts exercise class and I will then pop to see him afterwards to see how he is settling into his new bungalowMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Evening all - lots of snow flurries here today but not lying thankfully, though it is very cold
I went down to see to Mam at lunch time and she managed half her meal, but no dessert. She was tired and quiet. Nurse said the doc had been to see her, with all urine/stool tests coming back ok, though they are still going to continue with blood tests as she is obviously not back to her normal self. Infection control taken off, with her not having diarrhoea or vomiting for 72 hours now, so she can have her room door open again. I then went to visit my brother as arranged but, despite me knocking on door several times and ringing house phone, no reply so went shopping then back to my sisters. Later found out that he'd been asleep and not heard me, despite expecting me to call
When me and my sister went down tonight, Mam was really bright and cheery, and we were carrying on with her laughing. Carer brought her 3 small sarnies and bowl of dessert, but after taking one tiny bite out of sarnie, she rolled it round in her mouth and put it back on the plate saying 'don't want'. My sister gave her some ensure to drink, and she had a little sip, then we asked her to have another little bit of sarnie but she told us that she wanted to be sick. As I rushed to get a towel from her bathroom, she was violently sick all over the place. Giving my sis the towel I rushed for nurse who came straight up but Mam was still vomiting, looking very distressed. They got her all cleaned up and we just sat with her as she dozed off a bit. Nurse said that she would get doc to check in on her tomorrow and take things from there, as obviously still something going on. We had just been talking to the nurse and carers about how good she seemed today and that I would probably travel home tomorrow, but now I am staying to see how things go
Hoping she is ok tomorrowMr 3Dogs 3-7-12
