  • Hi Stressedbusymum

Did you take a copy of the acceptance? If you did, send them it again recorded delivery.

    I still haven't had my cheque :(

I can't believe they are still keeping you waiting but then again im starting to lose faith.

I emailed back to them to say that i had posted it to them on the 1st and couldnt understand why they hadnt received it and did they want me to send it again. I got a reply apologising and saying that they did in fact receive it on the sixth but it had not been sent on to ordering. She states that she will refer it immediately on to their department and i should hopefully not be waiting to much loger for it to be ordered. I think i am still in for a long wait but we'll see. I hope you get yours soon

    Hi all,

I wonder if you can help. I have received a letter off Egg to say that they have been examining previous sales of PPI and the PPI that I was sold with my loan may have been mis sold. They have sent some forms for me to complete and given some suggestions as to why I was mis sold the PPI. These suggestions include not being made clear that the PPI was optional, not being made clear that the total of PPI would be added to the loan amount and therefore charged interest over the loan term and that if I was to cancel the PPI after 30 days I would not receive a pro rata refund. (Something to that affect)

I was just wondering what reasons everyone on here gave and are you being paid out? I have to say, I did not realise that I was charged interest on the PPI but need to know what they will pay out on.

Hope this makes sense and someone can help.

    Helen
  • Hi Helen81

I don't think it matters what reason you put, just put the one that you think closest matches your complaint.

I got offered the refund of my total ppi premiums plus the interest on the premiums plus 8% interest for the time until now and because I settled the loan early they deducted the amount of rebate i was given when I settled the loan.

Don't expect it to be a quick process, but as a guideline mine was a 20000 loan over 3 years settled early and I was offered 7k total. My offer was made verbally on the 16th June in writing on the 22nd June and my acceptance was sent back on the 29th June. I am still waiting for my cheque but have been told it will be with me soon :)

They will uphold any valid complaint, but obviously your case will be strengthened if you can present evidence to support it. No point asking what others have been successful with, since every case is dealt with on it's own merits (or lack of).

Not true, you need to have honest, valid and verifiable reasons for complaint.

Thanks for this. I am hoping it will be a quick process and it is Egg who have contacted me by letter suggesting that they may have mis sold me my PPI. It wasnt a massive loan but anything back is great! :)

Just to add to this - I sent my acknowledgement back at the beginning of August - they said they hadnt had it 3 weeks later when I rang - told me to email my copy over. No acknowledgement from the email department so I rang after 2 weeks, and the lady said they were "just ordering the cheque" - that was 2 weeks ago. I don't know why they bother to put the 10-15 working days on because they clearly have no intention of sticking to it!

  • Just wondered what phone number you have to speak to them I am having a very similar experience but the number I was using has now been turned into a road to nowehere. It's disgusting really. Once the cheque has arrived I am going to chase them for two months extra interest and £12 for every time I have had to write to them or phone them.
  • The telephone number of 08007 834 393 no longer has an option 3 (as per a previous reply), and in my experiences never allows you to actually speak to somebody whether you choose option 1 or option 2. I have therefore, today, following waiting over a month for any reply to my signed acceptance, emailed the address given whilst listening to the prerecorded nonsense on Option 1 (15 days - you are kidding!), I have yet to get a reply but at least it's another 'option' - crt.pleaseassist@citi.com. I have my fingers crossed....

I have just discovered the same thing. I called them on 18th Sept to chase my cheque for the 2nd time. The first time they told me that there had been a problem with the company who generates the cheques and they didn't know how long it would take to get resolved. The 2nd time I was told the issues had now been resolved but that they were working their way through a huge backlog. I was told that all outstanding cheques would have been sent out by first class that Friday. Predictably I still haven't had anything.

When I tried to call today I find that they've changed the options on the phone number given on our letters so we can no longer talk to anyone. Why does this feel like they're just trying to hold on to the money a little longer???

When I spoke to them on 18th I complained that my interest was calculated up to a certain date and that these delays are losing me money every single day. They told me that I would be put on a list to have my interest recalculated due to the delay and that a further cheque would be sent out to make up the difference. I doubt this is going to happen now that they've removed all chances of actually speaking to someone. What an absolute CON.

The difficulty is I lost my job in August so I really need this money - it's already a month late and I'm struggling to get through to my next pay packet from a new job at end October.

I'll email them but don't hold out for any reply, let alone with the 10-15 working days time (that is a JOKE) - but I think I might make a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, what do you think??

I feel your anger, I really do. I was so happy, initially, that things seemed to be going smoothly. I hadn't involved anybody else, just applied personally using the relevant questionnaire and I received an upheld claim letter within a week or two. That was way back in August sometime. Your contact with them seems to say that there is a backlog, which does put my mind at rest a little. They have obviously changed their telephone messages because of the amount of people ringing them asking what the hold up is!

I am personally 'happy' to wait until I hear back from the email I sent. However if I don't get a reply to the email within a few days (maximum), then I will have to consider taking the matter further. I mentioned in my email the issue with interest accruing and that I hope this is being taken into account!

I am just happy that I have got their letter telling me my complaint has been upheld, because if all else fails, and in no longer than a week or so altogether, I will be doing as you say and complaining to the FO.

My case has only been ongoing since the beginning of August this year, if yours has been going much longer than that I wouldn't hesitate in complaining to the FO. Maybe you could try telling Egg in an email/phone call (wherever the number may be...), that you intend to go to the FO, that might speed them up a bit?
