RG, as we get older, we get more lactose intolerant (or so I read!). Hence too much whey protein can cause (to some people) the dreaded protein flatulence of doom which can annihilate the people around you.
I use 2 scoops daily and use any of the following: whey protein isolate, pea protein, brown rice protein, hemp protein. Sadly, it does get more expensive. I track my macros (carbs, fats, proteins and sugar) using myfitnesspal and aim for at least 1g of protein per kg of body weight.
I also have half a bag of whey protein that's not being used anymore. If interested, I could send it to you? It's still in date.
Denatured whey just means it clumps and taste yuck! Just gonna waste your whey protein.
Don't worry about the SMART PRICE ASDA peanut butter, just get what works good for you. Health and fitness is suppose to work for you not against you . Tony H always say, "Do your best and forget the rest!" - for me that is so empowering.Do Something Amazing- Give Blood0 -
Well, just finished Week 2 Day 6, with a day off tomorrow! :j
It was "Pure Cardio" THEN "Cardio Abs", I'm shattered!
I did the downward dog 'V' manouvre near the end, my hands slipped and I headbutted the floor, ouch!:rotfl:

I don't think I get the flatulence of doom (LOL) more in that I look like pregnant afterwards and I can hear an alien gurgling & moving inside me ready to burst out, LOL
https://www.myfitnesspal.co.uk looks great, I could do with knowing what calories I'm eating each day (or rather NOT in my case).
Is is totally free to sign up and join?
I might take you up on that offer, thank you. Just picturing a brown padded packet bursting in a Royal Mail sorting office and getting a knock on my door from the Police though.....
Thanks.lavandergirl wrote: »RG, as we get older, we get more lactose intolerant (or so I read!). Hence too much whey protein can cause (to some people) the dreaded protein flatulence of doom which can annihilate the people around you.

Not a bad haul for the price you paid, well done“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Ta!
What's Greek yoghurt, and why is whole milk better for you?
I couldn't see any "reduced sugar" peanut butter spread.
.0 -
* Check out Greek Yoghurt
* Peanut butter without sugar (not reduced fat). Once the tub is finished look around again.
* Whole milk is better for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins
* Fat is not the enemy. Sugar is! Simple carbs can rise up the blood sugar too quickly leading to high glycemic index. Go for complex carbohydrates. http://www.helpwithcooking.com/nutrition-information/carbohydrates.html
* cracking an egg- LOL. I know someone who puts raw egg. You might get some Health and Safety comment and say you might get Salmonella. I do put pasteurized egg whites in using two chicks or egg nation.
*Myfitnesspal is free and it helped me a lot in understanding nutrition.
* Perfect recovery drink postworkout? Chocolate Milk! Nesquick is the cheapest as it can last a bit longer. Lots of Nesquick in Lidl.

Recovery Drink
Just copied and pasted from http://www.coachpags.com/the-benefits-post-workout-recovery-drinks/
The question is do recovery drinks or recovery formulas work? And the answer is yes. And the reason they work is recovery drinks are different from protein powders because they are composed of simple and complex carbs.
The ratio of Simple carb to Protein is usually 4:1. The complex and simple carbs are excellent for glycogen replenishment. Muscle glycogen recovery is the process through which the muscles of the body are replenished with carbohydrate sources that have been depleted through the energy expended in exercise. They also contain vitamins and antioxidants, which will help to decrease soreness of muscles after workouts and help to your body’s ability to repair and grow your muscles. Recovery drinks also make a great post workout meal. It will keep your appetite down and replace the needed fuel your body needs that you burned during the workout and will help you avoid making a bad post workout meal choice such as fast food or a large portion meal
So by basically drinking a recovery drink after a workout your muscles are less likely to become sore and your body and muscles will recover faster.Do Something Amazing- Give Blood0
