  • The less processed chocolate milk I could find is this:
    CHOCONUT.

    Ingredients:

    3 cans organic coconut milk

    3 TBSP organic co!!!! oil

    3 TBSP Vanilla extract

    1 banana

    4 TBSP organic 100% cocoa

Throw it all in your blender/food processor and blend thoroughly for 30 seconds. Let it sit for a minute or two and blend again. The more time you blend, the smoother and more silkier it becomes.

Coconut water is also a good recovery drink but the price is

The word "organic" means it does come with a price. I try to be paleo/primal (less processed food) as much as I can but sometimes money can be an issue. Hence, I have to compromise for a bit (especially during skint days!). I guess it depends on how much we can afford to buy healthy food and how far we can extend the budget.

RG, sorry I meant Two Chicks or Egg Nation- they're brands of pasteurized egg whites but Just a Girl is right about using egg yolks- full of nutrition.

lavandergirl, seeing as sugar is the enemy, what is your take on fruit?

I know you weren't asking me but I'll add my two penneth anyway :D

Fruit should be limited to 1-2 portions daily of either berries or tree fruit as they have high sugar content (fructose). Dried fruits are even higher in sugar, as are vine fruits e.g. grapes, melons etc. Berries are great antioxidants, particularly blueberries :)

So you shouldn't have apples or bananas then?

    This is so confusing :(

And I'm talking to ANYONE who's listening :rotfl:

in this instance is your definition of a portion the same as the govt's '5 a day' portion size guides? And in choosing fruit, go for ones that could otherwise be classified as low-medium GI? (I've just had a cursory glance at THIS)

My portion is roughly a handful of berries or one piece of fruit, if something larger like a banana etc.

Yep, the lower the GI the better, although I'm surprised to see grapes listed as low GI, I've always thought they were higher. Will have to check that.
