Yeah, I'm vegetarian (and skint), but the whole world knows that by now! :p

What is my typical daily diet like? In a nutshell..... shocking.

Breakfast: Cornflakes with skimmed milk and a cup of tea
Mid morning snack: Banana or flapjack.
Dinner: Bread rolls or sandwiches with either cheese in, or cottage cheese and a few slices of cucumber (if I'm adventurous!)
Mid afternoon: Another small banana or another flapjack plus an Orange Lucozade drink.

Tea: Oven chips or usually a full tin of baked beans ( i'm-gassy-today.gif - sorry!) on toast.

Evening: Apple or bar of chocolate or another bowl of cereal.

No wonder I'm a skeleton (with a belly).

    I'll never bulk up :(

My first suggestions would to be ditch the skimmed milk, and move back to full fat milk. Good, natural fats are required. If you can't stomach it at first, switch to semi skimmed for a while, and then onto the full fat version.

I'd also ditch the Lucozade drink - full of sugar & additives which are no good for you. Instead, drink water and plenty of it. If you want something sweet every now and then, you can have squash - which asda does super cheaply (like under 20p or something) if I remember correctly. Then, you divert the money saved on the Lucozade, to food with protein in it.

From what I can see, you don't have nearly enough protein or fat in your diet at the moment. Do you have access to a microwave at work to heat up food with?

I've ordered the DVDs, so my OH and I are now in competition to see who is more successful, but I have you guys to help me out.

Am meal planning, as much to the nutritional guide as I can, however I've no idea about whey protein and the like. Can anyone recommend a good one so I can get organised in the kitchen lol

    Can't wait to get started!!
  • MyProtein are the ones I use, I have their Instant Oats for breakfast, Essential Whey as a recovery formula and True Whey as a protein addition :)

    Good luck!

    HBS thanks so much!

Can I ask how your using them, are you following the nutritional guide, or owing our own thing
  • I'm kind of doing my own thing with the nutrition guide as a basis. I use MyPlate to count calories as it bases your target on the crazy formula in the guide :)

I'm high-protein, no processed carbs, low-fat at the moment, one scoop of oats in skimmed milk for breakfast, one scoop of Essential Whey in water after workout, and one scoop of True Whey in water at some point during the day :)

You've already done all the workouts that you'll do for this month, if that makes sense. After the second week, there's nothing new till recovery week. The fit test is on its own because you are supposed to go flat out and do more reps than you think you can :) - hope you did well!

I beat Chris on the fit test on the power knees ^_^ but pretty much failed at some of the other stuff lol!

The really hard stuff comes in after recovery week...I had a look at Max Interval Training from month 2 and the stuff that is workout grade now is warmup grade in month 2...excited!! Halfway through week 3 now and still motivated :)

I did the fit test tonight and have improved, but it's so hard on your knees.

Good luck with your training :j

Thanks, and all this time I thought I was being healthy by only having skimmed milk for like the last 10 years :(

Cheers, like I said previously, Orange Lucozade was an occasional treat - but no more! I drink a litre of water doing the workouts, and do take a litre bottle of water to work with me, filled strangely enough with ASDA lemon juice or blackcurrant to make the boring water taste better!

I do, but to be honest, I really can't wait to get out of work every day at lunch so eat a sandwich (usually brown bread with cottage cheese), then say a banana then got out into town for a full half hour. I know I'm not eating enough :(

Two weeks into Insanity and I still look like a stick with a protruding belly :(

    ....just picture E.T. :p

Blimey! What's your favourite Xmas carol?

    "Awhey in a Manger"?

    LOL! :rotfl:

I bet after 60 days, all you guys will have outstanding results as you're following a proper nutrition plan, whereas I will just be able to exercise slightly more than before as I'm not :(

    Sigh......

RD your the reason I looked into insanity, it was your posts here.

Regardless of following the nutrition plan, your success will be completing the hard work. Don't put yourself down, sure the world loved E.T. lol

You all sound very fit. I feel like a rusty spud admiring the healthy , shiny , dancing potatoes:o

You're supposed to be a vibrant, fit, healthy example of vegetarianism :D

(just like me then!) :p :rotfl:

I'm still after my bite btw!
