It's your body's way of evacuating anything that could divert energy away from that which it needs to perform the exercises. This is especially common in high intensity exercise. You don't need to fuel the body beforehand but make sure you have a recovery drink afterwards to rehydrate and replace nutrients lost. No need to waste money on sports drinks, use diluted fresh apply juice with a pinch of salt
Btw, the headache could be a sign of dehydration.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Thanks for the advise ~Chameleon~ I seemed to have been sick straight after the workout and although I've read about drinking the recovery drink afterwards I honestly don't think it would have stayed down. Do I need to drink it straight after or could I wait an hr or so?Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls

I slowly sip water for 5-10 minutes or so after a workout, then a recovery drink, the stuff I use is Essential Whey from MyProtein, a 60/40 protein/carb mix, then after an hour or so I eat a meal

Just sip it slowly, don't gulp it down, especially if you still feel nauseous. Then make sure you have a light protein meal such as scrambled or boiled eggs on toast or a protein based smoothie (yoghurt, banana, honey, peanut butter is nice) within an hour of exercising. Good luck, these are tough workouts“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

You don't need to waste your money buying that sort of stuff if you're only doing these exercises. They're more suited to endurance athletes who are depleting their bodies entirely of glycogen and need to prevent loss of muscle mass from the body seeking alternative energy sources.
I use High5 4:1 as a recovery drink but only when I've done a 2-3 hour cardio workout, not after just a 30min HIIT session
And then only if I'm not going straight home to eat otherwise I'll just have a banana post workout and a meal a little later.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Oh no, I do weightlifting and cheerleading on top of Insanity - plus I'm allergic to nuts and rarely eat red meat so any extra protein is welcome
I tend to make a shake for breakfast as well, with some oats, as I can't stand the thought of food in the morning!
I do prefer to wait a fair while to eat, but his nibs usually wants his dinner a little while after I work out and I prefer my cooking to his

Oh I see, in that case carry on
I do like the odd protein shake myself, it's easy to digest and I've finally found one which doesn't give me a huge wind problem  :rotfl:“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
I hate being allergic to nuts, it's so annoying! And yep I found that with protein shakes too, it's not just you! Myprotein are actually pretty good, and cheap which is why I keep going back - free shaker this month

Hi Insanity lovelies!
How's everyone's workouts going? I had a massive unhealthy food binge at the weekend so right back on the diet now!
Started month 2 and boy is it a whole new ball game from month 1. Remember how you felt after your first round of Plyo Circuit? Double it. Maybe treble. BUT...no real pain the next day, slightly achey muscles but that's it.
Amusingly, my strength must be building - I accidentally threw a towel in the bath last night when it would normally make it to just inside the bathroom door... >.<

Been meaning to give Insanity a go for a while now, just need to make the space I need in the garage as it would make too much noise in the house (can only fit it in when little kids are asleep, dont want to wake them jumping around.)
Had a look on a few supplement sites for protien. Any recommendations?0
