If the "what if" feeling being described here is linked to the "wanting him more than anyone in the world, even though he's not interested, he's with someone else and happy etc etc etc", then honestly, I haven't felt that way since I was a teenager (thank goodness, because its exhausting!).

I have played "what if" too - but my "what if" is "what if I'd never gone abroad, never met my OH, never had my DD" - in short, its not a fantasy scenario, but a nightmare one, I couldn't imagine not having had those things now. I know it sounds like a cliche, but I do count my blessings that I did go abroad, and that I did meet my OH, and that I do have my DD.

Blimey I sound like a right old soppy sod today!

He might have terrible nocturnal flatulence... Dutch ovens anyone? _pale_ :D
He probably has smelly feet as well. And watches football all the time..... erm, what else don't women like...... he leaves the toilet seat up.

Interesting to read some of the responses here.

I can't say I've ever felt that way. If I was ever attracted to someone I asked them out. If they said no that was that and I moved on. I've never had any feelings for someone outside of having a relationship with them.

He may not be all that perfect.

He may have a really bad hairy back problem and a habit of wiping bogies on the headboard.
Or he may kiss like a wet fish.
Or he may like to watch himself in the mirror whilst "performing".

You've built him up to be the perfect guy.....in reality, no one is perfect. There are millions of guys out there, and so little time. Don't waste the best years of your life fawning over an unrealisitc fantasy that's never going to happen.

Yes, for many years. It can be quite unnerving.

Sort of. I suppose it doesn't seem like love if you don't reciprocate.
