A lot of them aren't. I'm sure a lot of men would go on holiday with their mates if they were allowed free choice.Lotus-eater wrote: »Not a family man we presume.0 -

They are 'allowed free choice'!
Having children/being in a relationship isn't compulsory or a prison sentence!0 -

I'm lucky (haha) to be married to a big kid. His idea of a good holiday is theme parks, go karts and maybe a zoo or farm. Most of the time this involves the children but he sometimes goes with his mates to theme parks abroad.52% tight0 -

I think that's quite sad actually. Why have children or a wife if they are not your first choice of people to spend a holiday with? Why would a woman have children with a man who doesn't want to spend time with them?52% tight0 -
Especially if their father feels like that, as he's probably not interested in what they do at the table.lostinrates wrote: »Obviously, but means pn's complaints were possibly justified if even their father feels like that.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

Some would, of course, but a lot? Mmmm, none of my friends would, but then we are all similar people. Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
I know a lot of women who would like a childfree break somewhere. It's not just men, but surely that would be in addition to enjoying a family holiday.52% tight0

Do you need to take kids on holiday though? I'd have thought it would be a golden opportunity to get back a bit of 'couple time' and get them to stay with doting grandparents, aunts etc.“Don't do it! I've been away with my husband without the kids.

I've been away with my husband and the kids.
My husband has been away without me and the kids.
The kids have been away without me or my husband.
I really would like to go away on my own.
Just for 2 or 3 nights. On a plane. Somewhere hot. Where I can chill and recharge my batteries. Plus my husband owes me 2 weekends away so I may just go for it later on this year if my PPI pays out

Well the kids are a part of the family and they need their horizons lengthening as much as anyone.Welshwoofs wrote: »Do you need to take kids on holiday though? It does them good to see the world, otherwise how are they going to learn about it?
I suspect you would be the first to complain about kids who weren't worldly wise and the parents who bought them up without any understanding of the world at large.
"Couple time" can be achieved without leaving your kids at home when you go on holiday.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
