Yes, but normal generally happy noises at sociable volume. The poor wee one was making ill wee noises, but very reasonably and quietly. (especially as he turned out to be rather sick indeed).
And you DID notice them, interacted with them. No grumpy git behaviour at all.0 -
Where on earth does he go on holiday?
Haven
Prestatyn was the worst. Southport Pontins was bad too. He gets wound up on family holidays because there are so many people, and when he was little his cousins used to really stress him out, but for the short amount of time he wanted to interact with them he was thrilled that they were there. As he's got older he's more able to cope with noises and lights etc. and he's had to get used to a little brother.
We're staying in B&B's this time, then a quiet campsite. Just the 4 of us

So were you talking to lostinrates at the time? As you're on your own at the moment I suppose you notice other people more than you would if you were with a friend.
Could you read a paper?52% tight0 -

What kind of place are you staying at? We've never stayed at a hotel serving fizzy drinks before/with breakfast (mini bar?) nor kids behaving as you describe.
I have 2 children, both of whom are exceptionally polite and well behaved and besides finding your post a bit offensive (loads of adults, who one could say should really know better, are rude & use generally inappropriate language around children for instance), we also never see the start of breakfast. We have to work hard to get there before it's over.
Also, what kind of example are the adults setting, in trying to FINISH breakfast before it officially starts? Sorry, but there really is no hope for the children exposed to such behaviour.
I'd recommend looking for alternative accommodation. I can't abide loud and poor behaviour from children, although it is the adults with them (typically their parents) and those around them (other hotel guests) who are the significant influencers on that. Sounds dreadful all round to be honest.0 -
I meant notice on the annoyed scale.... I didn't notice any level of annoyance at alllostinrates wrote: »And you DID notice them, interacted with them. No grumpy git behaviour at all.
I didn't even know one was ill until the day after. So I am not the grumpy child-hating git some would have people believe. 0 -

I bet its that when you know the children, or know the parents, the same sorts of behaviour and voices don't seem nearly so irritating.
They probably aren't any different in reality though to the ones in the hotel breakfast room.0 -
You mean at breakfast? I am there to eat breakfast. In, eat, out. No room for a paper anyway. It's a room about 12'x13' with 7-8 small/square tables laid up with cutlery. Tables are only 2' square and contain all manner of clutter (cutlery, placemats, jams, butter dish, cups/saucers, pot of sauce sachets, etc etc).Could you read a paper?
I walk in, say "usual", he scuttles off to make it, I shove bread in the toaster, pour a glass of juice, pour a cup of coffee. Get toast out of toaster, butter it .... as I am eating the 2nd piece the breakfast comes. 2-3 mins tops to eat breakfast. Then I leave.0 -
The parents and the children were complete strangers to me that day. I'd never met any of them before.Person_one wrote: »I bet its that when you know the children, or know the parents, the same sorts of behaviour and voices don't seem nearly so irritating.
