Kids and Small Hotels and Breakfast Time Nightmares

I've been living in a small hotel for a few weeks now - and whenever there's a family with kids everybody else tries to rush into breakfast 5 minutes before it starts, in order to get in/out before the kids come down (they always seem to come down on the dot of the start time).

Even now I was woken an hour ago as there are a noisy set above me .... and this morning I'm going into breakfast 10 minutes before it starts..... I now need to beat the rush that's trying to beat the kids.

It's not me - the others have independently, and without being asked, told me that's what they were doing ... and now it's a friendly nod at early doors to indicate "I know why you're here now".

Anybody else done this?

Why do they rush down before the kids? Can't you just sit at a different table?
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

I'm a mum with three kids - we get down to breakfast more or less on the dot when we stay in a hotel. Firstly because I won't let them go down any earlier, even though they are up and about, because I feel that it is bad manners for them to be loitering outside the dining room before it is open.

Secondly, we go down on time because we want to make the most of our holiday, and if we eat late, then we miss part of the day.

I'm not sure why people who are child-free feel the need to race downstairs before the families.

I only have one child, who is 2, but we never ever see the start of breakfast!! We usually aim to get there about half an hour before they close. We're none of us early risers.
Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.

Because the kids come in whining and shoving and moaning.... and the parents are shouting at the kids. You need a separate planet, not a table.

Because we want a quiet/leisurely start to the day - and not feel like we just had breakfast in a ballpark after kids have been fed fizzy drinks.

    Us too.

I've twice seen random adults unnecessarily bark at my son for supposed indescretions at the breakfast buffet. I've witnessed them both and can honestly say both times they were in the wrong and very rude with it. Our only failing seems to be to let DS be independent ( a young looking age 12) and help himself. For some reason that seems to ignite a rage in some adults that I cannot understand.

Can't you stay in a hotel that is not family orientated then?

Kids have a right to be anywhere as much as you and kids are noisy as std.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Buffet.... oh how I dream of a buffet. I've had about 3 buffet breakfasts ever.... and they're the thing dreams are made of.

That's a shame, I always thought breakfast in a hotel was a cheery time of the day. It's dinner in the evening when everyone is wiped out that I could see being more of a problem.

It's not a family orientated one. It's a small, private hotel. And, I needed somewhere to sleep - I had to take what I could afford on the dates I needed somewhere to sleep. It ended up as "this or you're sleeping in the car".
