jackal I spoke to our local Aldi manager and he said that they order stuff and it is unavailable and that most of the shortages are the cheapest items like the chicken portions, tortillas, all pasta, baked beans and egg noodles etc
I was lucky to get three bags of portions this week because I haven't been able to get any for a month  So my advice is to grab things when you see them.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I've got to admit I've been struggling with coming up with a plan for this - I'll definitely keep working on it but hats off to those who came up with menus. Fair play to you. I've really had to think about this, really hard, but will keep trying.

I am not a newbie and I am astonished that I have not come across this wonderful thread yet, I sure could have done with your imaginative suggestions a little while back. (ignored the silly negative posts:) )
I've been reading through your pages of amazing information and I have to say that your willingness to brainstorm and suggest ideas for others has given me new found hope that the selfish, greedy world we live in has not wiped out few genuine Samaritans left. :A
I'll also be taking info from this thread as I'm a lone parent desperate to clear the debt, settle the mortgage and provide as stress free a home as possible for my daughter who has Ulcerative Colitis and am finding it "tricky" to say the least.
Thanks to everyone who has given information. :TReturn and Restart August 2016

I remember when my mother used to dilute 1lt whole milk into 2lt of semi-skimmed milk and freeze one when we lived in South Africa (use cooled boiling water) I think I will be trying this as well. I never used to notice the difference. What are your ideas and comments on the suggestion.Return and Restart August 2016

I do this often, but not usually 50:50 as I start with semi-skimmed anyway. And if we get really low I make up some from dried milk powder and mix that with the fresh milk. I don't know if he's noticed, but DH hasn't commented yet!Making magic with fabricLight travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.0 -

I dilute as well, but usually ratio of 1 pint of water to every 3 pints of milk, to make up 4 pints.Grocery Challenge 2013: July week 1 £90/£87.41
