Hi, will go for £400 again this month as although I want to start reducing it, it is summer hols and everyone is here. Will try to remain OS though and make a lot of the snacks for picnics etc.

Hope everyone is okay. I doubt I'll be able to update/keep up much this month but will try xxxx

    Hi everyone,

I'm in again for August. We are away for two weeks from this Saturday so our GC budget will be reduced to £250. I have already spent £36.79. I will need to buy some eggs today as I'm baking two cakes for a church function tomorrow. Haven't bought eggs in ages as MIL, SIL and DSIS usually give us some but we have run out!!!

DS2 has a friend for tea/sleepover tonight so I'm doing Nigella$ macaroni cheese. Should have everything else in for this week barring some veg.

Noticed in MrT yesterday (late afternoon) that they were putting up voucher exchange marketing material (where you swop clubcard points for double value in some departments). Not sure what the departments are but HTH someone.

Thanks to whoever mentioned about the red wine on offer in MrT. That is the only red I can drink without my nasal passages getting bunged up after half a glass lol! I think it's to do with tannins (sp?). Anyway, got six bottles yesterday plus 25% discount plus I had a £5 off a £40 spend. Love handing over lots of vouchers and watching the total drop :D

jasmin10: Thanks for that! Swapping to the 3 smaller ones would save us £36 a year! On juice! maybe more because we go through sooo much!

Thanks for all the job support! It is my first job, its just working in KFC but it is a start! Was stuck in a rut being unemployed, there are alot of rules and regulations that I found more of a hinderance when trying to find work than a help being on benefits. Now I'll be able to try and sell my artwork and crafts without worrying about what I can and can't do.

New dog seems to be alergic to dog food! Even tried her on a - no soya,no wheat, no dairy etc dog food, and doesn't take. However she wasn't ill after she ate an entire loaf of bread! Having to buy her dog food from bolams butchers, it only contains meat and vegetables, no grains, and that seems to be doing okay for her!

Her stomach prefers to eat human food than dog food. Could prove expensive! ( only had her a month)

After deciding we wouldn't we did go out for tea last night for my birthday (today). It was my first ever proper Sunday Dinner in a pub and it was yummy. Next time I will go prepared with a doggy bag as there were 2 chicken breasts on my plate and I could only manage less than one. The other one would be another meal for me and DS.

£31.15 to add to the total. I am still aiming to spend no more than £10 this week. This was to include a coffee out with a friend but as I am now seeing her on Sunday I won't have this spend. DH is on board with the £10 as he went to put something in the freezer yesterday and asked me if I was expecting world war 3 as it was jammed full:o

Gammon, egg, beans and the last few oven chips for my birthday tea tonight followed by ice cream and jelly with raspberries or a GF muffin.

Xspender Just a heads up that I've never once brought a doggy bag to a restaurant but I always take leftovers home with me - if I've asked (I have no shame but do admit it sometimes makes my dining companions look at me weirdly :D) they have always been very happy to put it in a tub in my experience - only once they had no tubs but still put it in a food bag for me and were very apologetic :rotfl:.

Know this is too late to help this time but just thought that if you do forget your tub next time it's definitely worth a shot asking! I do it most in Italian restaurants because the portions of pasta are generally double what you need and it means you effectively get your main half price

    Can i join?

We are a family of 4 (2 adults (one is 6 month pregnant), 2 kids (3 and 19m) and are going for £250

Im including all household things like washing powder, binbags etc and all the little trips to the shop for *ahem* chocolate :o but not pet food as that is dealt with seperately.

First food shop of the month was £49.05 including the delivery fee of £3 and monthly purchases of washing powder, binbags and weetabix lol so that leaves me with £200.95

    £49.05/£250

    Happy birthday xspender! :bdaycake:

Today may not be the gc nsd I had planned for, we'll see. It kind of depends how quickly the car is fixed. The guy doing it reckoned around £190!!!

Having muffin pizzas for lunch to use up three muffins we have lo from an egg muffin lunch the other day. DS had them at school, and liked them, so I thought I'd do them as a change. No idea what dinner will be, as it's at a friend's house. I'm going to look in the freezer and see what we can take for pudding, as much to clear space as to be sociable!!

I'm the only one who is dressed at the moment - dd only woke up at half 10! (She's not a teenager - she's 7!) Still, it's the hols, so there's no rush to do anything.

Off to make lunch, and watch a film with the children before we go out for a wander and some fresh air.

Have a great frugaltastic day everyone!
