I just want to register my first NSD in preparation for the August challenge (£450 including all the booze and food for my birthday party).
Today I have made myself spend absolutely nothing, zero, zilch even if I was really tempted. I saw a book on Amazon for £2.80. It would not have broken the bank, but it would have broken my resolve. I am going to the library tomorrow and see if they can order it for me (not in their catalogue) via the Inter Library service.
I have stocked up on food in the last few days, but not to artificially take down my August expenditure, just because I found very good offers of food I needed (cheap good quality olive oil, tinned tomatoes, frozen burgers, Approved Food stock up of dry goods and toilet paper, a very good bargain of "natural" laundry liquid at half price). So I shall have to be careful in my purchases of fresh food only in the next month. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello peeps.
Just catching up on the posts before the thread runs away withitself lol, and thought I would post a couple of things.
SB88, (I think it was who posted the shopping list). We get through gallons of squash and used to pay the 2(1.5 ltr for £2.50 at A$da, then went over to ald1 as theirs was for 96p, but then I found a small bottle of double strength squash in a$da and Mr T's for 29p, If I bought 3 I got the equivilent of a 1.5ltr bottle for 87p , even cheaper and taste just the same - I decant all three bottles into the 1.5 ltr ones.
Also re bread flour. I have tried using both plain and SR flour when I ran out of strong, in acutal fact I have most of the strong bread flour but t ran out of the last cup so used sr - it didnt work(
Nipped into Ald! as well as DH wanted/needed some tinned Tuna and I noticed they have put their price up 5p, when you need to by lots it's a big difference. I read someone put that Asda has it on a roll back so I will go and check that out.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -

I've been slack in posting! Friday spent 9.94 on 2 packs of back bacon, spring onions, bag of salad, mushrooms, beetroot and some chocolate bars for DD.
However yesterday was an NSD-12 hour shift so no time to shop. Today has been too as I was at work so my mum got some tomatoes for me but didn't want paying for them.
We are going out tomorrow to a farm park but will be taking a picnic and anything spent will come out of the 'treats' fund, so hopefully this'll be an NSD too.Helen. Single mum to DD(7) and 2 siamese cats. Trying to decrease my debt and spending and increase my savings and lose weight-30lbs so far!

Can I change my budget to the usual £200 pls as I think its going to be a longer month for us.
Thank youTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
I spent a grand total of £3 today on a 1 litre tub of ice cream !!!! !!!! And that was on roll back from £3.78! Still, it was nice, and it was part of a game we were playing today; ice cream shops. DD has spent ages over the last few weeks making an ice cream shop, with signs, prices, extras, a till, etc etc, and she wanted to actually do it properly today, instead of imagining ice creams! Fair dos, and £3 for a game where they 'play' with money and change, write signs, etc is £3 well spent.
Have everything in for the rest of July, and as my Aug gc starts on the first, I shall aim to have as many nsds at the beginning of the month as I can! Doing lots of things which mean we're out of the house for a night here and there, so less food needed over the month. I hope!!
Using stuff up over the next few days that would go off otherwise, so slightly random stuff for dinners. Mixed with lots of fruit and veg though, so just random main bits!!Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending0 -
First shop of the month £47.22!
Filled the stocks a bit, bought some Tinned Tuna on role back, and took advantage of multiple purchases (Curry Sauce (enough to last two months), Orange Squash, rice etc) I also got some YS ready meals for OH and froze them, he will often get one on a weekend for lunch.
Right now it is difficult trying to build up a stock cupboard as I've been unemployed, but I've just started my new job ! Had a great first shift! So I am going to put money aside from my first pay cheque to help reduce our overall spendature. Buying more in bulk to reduce costs etc
Thanks
Sarah
Congratulations on starting your new job :T:T:TI am sure JJ will be delighted to think her herb bread helps someone save some pennys. Its a great recipe.
It is also a great base for a quick pizza base, really
tasty!:D:D

Hi everyone
Its sunny here so I am feeling quite motivated at the moment. So I plan to aim to feed us for £150 for August (sorry but my computer won't allow me to do colour or larger letters). I have quite a lot of bits and bobs in the freezer and cupboards so I am going to try to make it half way through August before I do a big shop and use things up before I open new. I hope everyone is OK and getting some of the sunny weather (here it can't make up its mind but at the moment its sunny so I am making the most of it)
Anyway I better get on
Have a good August everyone
Cuddles:)

Hi we got taken out for dinner yesterday so that was a saving and enjoyable too
.
Doing well this week so far but I have someone coming for lunch tomorrow so I'm going to have to buy a few extra bits for that as I only found out about it yesterday so didn't plan for it. Will keep it to a minimum though and I'm going to bake a cake today, which I already have ingredients in for so that will save me some money.
