    4 oz plain flour
    half a pint of milk
    one egg
    pinch of salt

The trick is to do it a few hours before you need it - even better if you make it the day before and leave in the fridge.

It's never failed on me yet - I double the quantities for a large toad in the hole which still isn't big enough for the way my kids can eat it.

When we have Toad in the Hole [or Frog in the Bog as it's known in our house!] I serve it with a tin of oxtail soup rather than onion gravy. I'm always one for a cooking shortcut!!

Having read all your posts (and laughed so much!!) today about what to eat for tea tonight I thought I'd make Toad in the Hole. Just rung my Mum for her yorkshire pud recipe (mmm lovely!) and opened the flour bag to find...........................bloody little black crawly things - the dreaded weevil  So flour gone in bin and having to beg kids to go to shop and get me some more

Oh no nightmare!! Was going to tell DH about the dreaded flour wombles yesterday but didn't as I think that he'd get me carted off to the loony bin!

    Have you tried Stovies?

Sausages, onions, potatoes, turnip, gravy all in a big pot!
