I believe Tiscali Broadband software comes on the 1501..can anyone confirm this ?

If it does can this be used for dial up ? As my friend who is getting the laptop hasnt got broardband just dial up and she wants me to help get hers up and running.

There is a disc for Tiscali, not sure if it includes dialup, but the laptop comes with the phone wire and adapter for dial up.

The disk that comes in the box is for broadband but does say dialup available. You shouldn't have a problem.

heads up to anyone who bought these excellently priced laptops ... (this worked fine for me).

Theres a known problem with at least some of them. If you close the lid whilst on, they'll go into hibernate mode .. and chances are they'll then have to be reset to get them working again. Normally you'd just have to press the power button lightly to return to the desktop. The fix for this is to download the very latest catalyst driver from amd's site (not ati's) - The ati site won't allow you to download it for some wierd reason !
Once installed you'll end up with another problem - A sonic driver is incompatible with vista .. This is actually the drag and drop part of the roxio suite that comes pre-installed ... uninstall this from the control panel and bobs your uncle.

I'd advise doing this only if you're comfortable with installing drivers - use at your own risk.

With regard to the 90 day warranty, as I've already mentioned in this thread, I bought a laptop in Oct/Nov 05 which was returned to Dell for repair at their expense last summer...more than 90 days. The repair and return were free. THe collection man brought packaging and packed up he laptop before he took it away. I was kept informed about the progress of the repair the whole time. I don't know if this was unusual or standard, it's just how it was for me.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before, but you can fix the sonic driver problem for roxio with a download from roxio - just click the link for Dell OEM Customers when you get there...

I am waiting for my laptop to turn up and need to get a case for it. The one from PC World seems a good price for Leather but looking at the picture the case doesnt look big.

Has anyone bought one or seem one of these ? Can anyone tell me if you will be able to get the laptop in it and the power cables that it needs ?
