Double click on the blue screen in the bottom right hand corner, color correction, drag the brightness slider

    Thank you so much albertross.
I got the brightness down as far as it would go, -60, so much better.

Now while I am here, I have another question.
This message comes up each time I switch on.

Windows sidebar has stopped working, a problem caused it to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the programme and notify you if a solution is available.

What is the sidebar and can I do anything about it?

It's the 1 inch strip on the right of the screen with the gadgets in, clock etc. You could try deleting and re-adding the gadgets.

Can you give me any instruction on how to do this.
Good to know what the sidebar is.
On my screen it is an empty white oblong strip.
I did wonder why that was sat ther empty.

Dont let this put you off and missing out on keeping this laptop. If youve had it for less than 7 working days then you can get full refund. I got mine not last Friday but the one before and my last day up was Tuesday just gone (due to bank holiday). She rang me Tuesday this week and i said i had decided i wanted it replaced so she arranged a collection and said another would be sent within 5 working days.

The old one she told me on the phone Tuesday would be collected Thursday (yes just 2 days later) and i then had a call Wednesday to say my new one would be coming Thursday. The funny thing was a van turned up about 9am for the old laptop and i said to the lady about if she had my new one but she didnt and she said normally they wait for the return of the old one before sending the replacement. I told her that they had said i would be getting it that day though and while i stood there signing for it another van turned up with my new one. So i was very happy.

Has anyone had any problems with their screen? I love the laptop but now and again the screen goes like snow and the whole thing locks up. Could this be something to do with the battery life? I don't really want the hassle of sending it back, but I will if I have to. Thanks guys, this was a top post!
