I bought the 1501 model so It should not be a RAM issue but would appreciate some user comments
Yes I have. Once I was happy with it i reformatted the hard drive getting rid of all the Dell partitions, re-partioned to my liking and installed Vista Ultimate.
I used the driver disk to get the hardware installed and although it didn't automatically recognise all the installed hardware as it was supposed to, it was an easy job to identify what it missed and get the drivers installed. Also since the disk was produced some drivers have already been updated so a quick visit to the Dell update page, and the AMD (ATI) site was in order.
After I was done everything working and set up according my liking.

Why not just shrink the partition so it is not using up as much space, or just use it for storing data.
Thanks for the reply. I prefer the "cleaness" of a standard re-install as i presume the recovery partition will contain all the crap that Dell put on the machine which slows it down.
I am unsure as to how to shrink a partition. I really would rather just put it on a DVD though as i think i am unlikely to need it but it would be there still if i did.0 -

I scatched my head over this one too....go straight online through Internet Explorer on the desktop, go to aol.co.uk and downloan 9.0 VR f(Vista Ready) from there.
PS in terms of paying for AVG, I googled AVG and went through a link so perhas I was conned.0 -

Sorry what do you mean Albertross? Are you saying you can just use Internet Explorer? You still need the ISP account though....?
PS another daft question.....I haven't had a CD rewriter before and want to burn my first discs. How do I know which blank discs to buy? I dont understand the - and + thing. On my order confirmation is says the drive I have is 8x DVD+/-RW......does that mean I can use either type of disc?0
