Has anyone ever tried to claim back charges from the SLC? If so were you successful? I assume I can follow the same principle as reclaiming bank charges.

Also - is it possible to claim for charges which are more than 6 years old? I have all of my SLC statements in my cellar some of which state charges which were put on my accout 12 years ago!
  • im claiming from natwest and i have my 6 years of statements but im confused about what to claim back as there charges are shown at the end of the month under the title charges ,for instance i pay 12 a month as a card fee and i got charged 28 pound for being over drawn but this is just shown as a charge of 40 pounds, can i list all the charges in my reclaiming letter and just say that i understand that part of the charges are for card fees or do i need to minus the card fee off all the charges cause it appears to change over the 6 yerars please someone help me thankyou dave

  • Please could someone clarify for me whether the £19.95 I am being charged each month as 'account fees' are the same thing as 'bank charges' and if so can i claim them back and how?

    Thanks

If the 'account fees' are for an 'upgraded' account, i.e. a premier account with additional 'benefits' then no, it's not the same as bank charges and you cannot reclaim them, as they are for a genuine service. If you're unsure what these are, contact your bank and ask them to clarify.
  • Just starting to calculate the charges i can claim, can anyone tell me if i can claim o/draft usage fee back from lloydstsb
    thanks

  • Nope you cant....go check the reclaim charges help thread there is a post there that will tell you what you can and cant claim for...overdraft usage fee is something you cant claim for..post 10 is what you want to look at
  • I just got my letter back from the bank with all my charges. To my surprise, they included all the 'Overdraft Interest' charges, from as little as 19p to £2.42 as well as the expected Overdraft Excess Fees, Unpaid Direct Debits and Standing Orders.

Do I/Can I claim for these as well? It's not a lot, but it totals over £20 so I thought I might as well.

So can I include this in my list of charges to reclaim? Or do you have to leave them out.
  • Please help!

you cannot claim the interest applied by the bank (they are entitled to charge interest) however, you can claim back a portion of the interest on the daily rate of 8%, when you finally decide to issue your claim...on the same day, use martins interest calculator you will find this on the extreme right of this page under Bank charges calculator...you take the date your charge was taken and the amount...the calculator will do the rest for you
