Hi There - i have recieved my statements (finally after a nudge after the 40days were up!) and whilst the majority are cleary defined after cross referencing with the 'what charges can be claimed' thread there are 2 descriptions showing back on my statements dating back to 2001 that are not listed.

The first is simply defined as a DR (debit) WITHDRAWN for varying amounts at different dates, the other is again DR (debit) CASH (only one listed). whilst the cash seems to appear as a possible cash withdraw i am unsure about the WITHDRAWN as all my other cash withdrawls are labled as ATM CASH (bank / branch) WITHDRWAN AT (time). i am confused as to whether these are sneaky charges or legitimate transactions as they were so long ago!

Has anyone else had this appear on their statements and successfully claimed against them or likewise do they know what they may be - i wanted to check here first before i call the bank and they fob me off or just falsely claim they were legit!!

    Thanks in advance!!
  • My statements have items written as.... DR NOTIFIED FEES/CHARGES and .... DR INTEREST? I have an agreed overdraft but am not sure if I can claim, and if these charges are the ones I can claim back. These are the only items on my statement that seem applicable. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry but i have tried to understand what is listed in the first post but i am not savvy enough to understand how they relate to what i have been charged.

I have the following charges on my account:

    Direct debit set up
    Interst charged
    Referral Charge
    Fees for going overdrawn
    Fees for going over overdraft

Also there are fees that were charged for having a packaged account but i think that i can't claim for them. If i am wrong please let me know!!

Can someone please let me know which of these i can claim back for?

    Would appreciate any help.

Sorry about bumping my post but it looks like getting lost without an answer!

I am with the First Trust Bank in Northern Ireland if that is any more help.
  • Hi

does anyone have any experience of claiming back charges from mortgage banks if the account is in arrears?

Halifx charges minimum £35 for every phone call and letter - if they can;t reach you (I am often away on business), they keep calling so keep charging?

Can you imagine how much this can cost is you are away for 4 months?

Even if my account is in arrears ( which I am trying to clear up asap), the additional charges make it very difficult.

    any thoughts?

    thanks
  • Hi All,

I am with First Direct and have a £1500 overdraft facility, which I am often in and sometimes over. Now would I be right in thinking that an Overdraft fee of £37.50 and Excess Overdraft fee (fluctuates in £'s) are also known as an Unauthorised overdraft fee and Exceeding Unauthorised Overdraft Limit or Exceeding Authorised Overdraft Limit ? Please would someone be kind enough to clarify before I make my claim.

    Many thanks.

  • Im really thick in the financial dept but have managed (with this webpage's help)to get the first letter off to my bank asking for copies of statements to which they replied enclosing photocopies of bank charges. But I'm confused to what I can claim back. Can I claim back all the following they mention:-
OVERDRAFT INTEREST, OVERDRAFT USAGE FEE, ACCOUNT CHARGE, OVERDRAFT EXCESS FEE
  • Yes
