its illogical to be hurt, in that you could of course take your ring off at any point in the holiday if you WANTED to cheat.

so replacing with a cheap one for the trip sounds sensible to me, if you wear it full time in the UK. if you only wear it occaisonally in the uk (ie leave off for work or sport) then sensible to just not wear it at all when abroad.

though most blokes rings aren't that expensive are they? £200 or so for a band?

It's conversations like this, that make realise I'm so pleased me and Mr Suki do not have wedding rings, even though we are married, we opted out as they're not a legal part of the wedding ceremony. I'm not sentimental with jewelry. In fact the only piece of jewelry I have is a lovely vintage engagement ring, which I love, but I stopped wearing it when I did care work and got really bad excema underneath it from washing my hands all the time.

I have to admit it sounds odd, but if it is very expensive, then maybe a genuine plea, especially if you've lost it before. Although if you normally wore it on holiday abroad, I would wonder why now was different.

  • If your ring is in danger of falling off because you've had a drink then it's the wrong size...get it resized so that it fits correctly and you can enjoy the stag do hijinks without fear of losing it.

I'm not sure many people would believe your excuse for wanting to leave it behind is a genuine one![/QUOTE]

It seems quite geunine to me. If he didn't want to wear it on the stag do for the wrong reasons, he could just take the darn thing off and lock it in the room safe before he goes out. Just make sure he keeps it on during the day to ensure tan lines are clearly visible for post-holiday inspection :D

That said, I wouldn't let my hubby not take his ring but a cheap replacement one would save the day!

No you are right, reading back my post i think they were kneejerk reactions, you are right, if they are going to stray they will stray no matter what.

And to be honest, you are more likely to push them into doing something if you dont 'allow' freedom.

Just because you are married to someone doesnt mean that you own them.

Yes i agree, more you cage an animal and all that, but i think i would be a bit concerned about the ring, i think i would feel happier if he got a cheaper one and wore it out there.

Mate, my wedding ring is welded on, if my wife found me not wearing it, it had better be because I lost my whole finger!

Neither of us have worn our wedding rings since the ceremony, partly because of work and partly because we find rings uncomfortable.

Being in a committed relationship is a state of mind, not related to a ring on your finger.

If a husband or wife wanted to play away on a hen or stag do, they wouldn't ask their partner about the ring - they'd just take it off. If I thought my OH would sleep around when away from home, he wouldn't stay my OH for long.

So what is keeping a ring on going to do? if someone wants to cheat on their partner on a stag do, they will do it with or without a ring on...
  • About the only reason i'd take my wedding ring off is if i was going in the water. They do come off in a pool (and i've known a few friends looses theirs that way).. BUT

My wife would go flipping mental.

It sounds like stupid, flawed logic. If you're that bothered, put it in a hotel safe when you know you're going in a pool. Otherwise, leave it on

Exactly right about the cheating. This is why I'm asking the husband to ask himself whether he's really committed to the relationship, or just mouthing any excuse that might wash if he blags enough.

If it's a case of he's just looking for any excuse, but not even admitting it to himself, then this is as good a time as any to achieve some self realisation and not waste her life and the lives of any potential children.

    really......

i've heard of keyboard warriors, but keyboard psychologists

it's a throw away topic that i thought about when looking at £4 sunglasses on asos earlier, as others have said if i wanted to cheat i could remove my ring before i have my first beer at the airport
