Your husband said he wasn't going to wear his wedding ring on a stag do?
I've just been looking at buying a pair of cheap sunglasses to take on a stag do to benidorm next week because there is no way on earth i'm taking my raybans.
This got me thinking, my ring is far more expensive and in some respect is irreplaceable regardless of value. With all the booze and water and general hijinks that will go on, should i take it with me? and secondly how would my wife see it?

You'd stand a better chance of her understanding your motives if you agreed to wear a cheap ring rather than go with no ring at all!0 -
A stag do. No wedding ring. And then claim its because you don't want to lose it?
I think you are running the risk of losing it anyway if you put this to your wife. Possibly in a dark and painful place!
It would take a brave chap to tell this to his wife. Frankly, you should be grateful she has given you permission to go on this jolly. ;-)0 -
To be completely honest, I wouldn't be at all happy if he chose not to wear it on a stag do... although I do understand your reasons why. Perhaps you could explain that you don't want to lose it and offer to buy (at your own expense) a cheap ring to wear - same premise as the cheap sunglasses?Don't worry about typing out my username - Call me COMP(Unless you know my real name - in which case, feel free to use that just to confuse people!)0

I would be furious and somehow sceptical of the reason behind it, I woundn't buy the whole "might lose it" thing, your adults after all not, kids.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

I don't understand how you would lose your wedding ring on a stag do anyway... do your friends ask to borrow it?0

Mate, my wedding ring is welded on, if my wife found me not wearing it, it had better be because I lost my whole finger!
If you are worried that your fingers may shrink and the thing fall off, put a waterproof plaster around it.0 -

love the finger thing, i've a feeling my wife would be the same :rotfl:
that has actually happened to me, at work i sometimes have to wear gloves outside and if it's cold a couple of times when taking the gloves off my ring has slid right off, good tip!!Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - Mike Tyson0 -
I wouldn't like it, BUT would agree if it was replaced with a 'cheaper' ring.
Both our wedding rings were quite cheap anyway, but of course have enormous sentimental value. He fiddles with it constantly (he has large knuckles, but very skinny fingers, so it doesn't fit him properly) and TBH I do worry about him losing it as he fiddles and causes it to slip off (but a smaller size won't go over his knuckle!).
So I wouldn't mind if it was a genuine "I don't want to lose it, can I get a cheap ring to wear while away?" Especially if the stag do was going to involve activities like, I don't know, abseiling or rafting or whatever.0 -
I'm getting married next year and OH has already said he won't be wearing a ring at all due to work. He is getting a cheap one for cermony but probably won't wear it after that.
IMHO I would not have an issue with this. If a bloke is going to do something how is a bit of metal on one finger going to stop him.
I think the whole thing about losing it is a good reason. I wore my engagement ring whilst on holiday in Canada visiting my best friend (male) without OH and I was petrified of losing itFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0
