  • New here but had to say ......plan is from november to charge for all but a handbag

I notice that, when booking a flight, Ryanair no longer tries to sell its approved hand luggage.

They just tried it with me on a booking, second page before the car hire.
(You'd think they'd know by now)

.....will they seal up all the overhead lockers ???

why do that when just think of how many dozens/hundreds of paying passengers can be fitted in there? With additional charges because they can be classed as sleeper beds..;)

I've always thought there was a market that would put you to sleep at the airport and wake you up when you reach your destination. No need to worry about airline food, the person with the embarrassing habits next to you, seat kicking children, disgusting loos...

    This thread is quite amusing.
The OP joins in July, posts this claim about hand luggage and is never seen or heard of again and yet there are another 74 further posts on the subject.

Is this what they call trolling? :(
  • And, finally, Ryanair speaks.

The headline says Ryanair is considering a charge for carry-on baggage, while the Deputy Chief Executive of Ryanair makes it clear there are no immediate plans to do so.

They are going to charge EVERYONE £6 each way for using any "payment card" from Dec 1st 2012, so it`s only a matter of time before hand luggage will be charged for.

The so called low cost airlines are gradually cutting their own throats.
Having recently priced flights, hotels, transfers, etc., I found it`s actually cheaper to go with a package holiday company.

The low costs are now high costs.

There is no logical reason why the presence of an admin fee therefore means they will start charging for hand luggage soon...

And no, they aren't "cutting their own throats" - Ryanair is one of the most profitable airlines on the continent. And maybe in your specific example it is cheaper to go with a package holiday company - but so what? It generally isn't - hence why Ryanair get so many customers...

Returned from TFS a couple of weeks ago and it was announced at the gate that you were allowed 1 piece of hand luggage and 1 bag from duty free. Seeing that we travel with them quite a bit we bought a bar of chocolate and asked for a big bag, now it will go with us whenever we visit Tenerife
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Some airports have notices saying Ryanair customers can take an additional duty free bag, but you can't rely on that continuing to be the case as it is not in Ryanair's terms and conditions, unlike easyJet, Monarch etc. etc.
