I was also wondering about this draining fluid business - does it mean you leak waters from 'below' as well?? I mean to drain them they're making a hole in your membranes aren't they?

how are you all today? hope everyone slept ok? gosh marta you were up early!!! dh kept me up and i used my ear plugs.. best thing ever but then when he was shushing me as iw as snoring, i couldnt hear him. lol

just been to the doctor and was hoping he could tell me more about finding those leukocytes in my urine. i am still burning a bit down there. doc couldnt do anything but ask the nurse to take a quick vulva swab so more waiting.. i am worried that if i have an UTI infection or something, will it spread to baby?

next time i have those period cramps i am calling the labour ward.

wanted to go into town but came back home as expecting a boots delivery. x

I've woken up at 4:30 for three of the last four mornings. And been 'awake' when I've woken up. I've always tried to go back to sleep but if it happens again I'll just get up and start cleaning. Still no sign of baby.... will try some acupuncture I think. Trying to see if anyone can fit me in today. There are quite a few acupuncturists around here it seems.

Good luck savage, I think it is a good idea to try the acupuncture, I'll do the same if I go overdue for a week or so, no harm in trying!!

I just could not go to sleep, I went to bed after 5am and woke up around noon. Just finishing my crumpets! Lol

Mushypeas, I would not consider it an achievement, lol. I should have done that way before, I went on maternity at 25 weeks and my due date is tomorrow... no good skills for organizing myself at the moment. To be fair, all the stuff I had to do were things I volunteered for or were important for me to do. I was concerned about having a year without anything on the cv because I effectively "quit" my jobs or made myself unavailable and I don't know if they will be there when and if I'm back. So I wanted to be able to put something for this year. So I volunteered at one to create and maintain a website for a project, and I told the other one I would be submitting a paper on some teaching workshop I did so they could put it on the proceedings, plus I took a translation job from a third one. However, when I volunteered I did not take into account my brain would be shut down for anything non-baby related. At least now is done and out of the way, so I don't have to keep thinking about it!!

Re: birth plan, I assume that things will end up being different, but I thought there was no harm in just writing everything down.

Rups, I have had period-like cramps for a couple if weeks now. They grow in intensity. Every person is different, though. My aunt told me that for her the contractions were like period cramps but with a pattern that kept repeating and getting closer. She said that in her case the contractions weren't as painful and she had had periods that were worse, she certainly didn't scream. My MIL said she did feel them very intense and different from anything else and painful, so I guess I'll have to wait and see how my body behaves. Some people told me they couldn't mistake them for anything else, some people told me they were not sure and when they arrived at the hospital they were over 6cm dilated and gave birth within the hour. I think the important part is how often you have them, if there's no pattern or very far away, they might be Braxton hicks, if they have a pattern and get closer, they are contractions.

thanks marta. that helped a lot :)

regarding birth plan, i sort of was clueless weeks ago and even when we finished our nct classes, but now its more clearer.. i want a water birth if i can, and if not, if i can manage with gas and air, i can do that or worse case an epidural. i downloaded one of those forms you fill out online and wrote stuff but might need to change it. every one says no one follows their birth plan lol. lets see hey?

bit easier on the period cramps today and whats bugging me is this white blood cell thing in the urine.

Remember you're allowed gas and air in the pool Rups.
My plan is very loose but is written down. I've put four columns - ideal / OK / would like to avoid / under no circumstances. Obviously if things to badly wrong or there's an emergency there's no point arguing, but even in that case I want OH to have skin to skin and I don't want them taking baby away from either of us (unless necessary obviously) or feeding it formula without our knowledge. I also want him there for whatever happens and if I do end up with a caesar I don't want to see it, so all of that is on the plan.
