I bought myself "Tums" as I found I was feeling very sicky and a burning lump in my throat. Pop to your gp... they'll more than likely give you a prescription. Try having some milk before bed too. Should neutralise you a little before you sleep.

Oh, and baby's weight as estimated by scan is only 8.5 lbs not the even larger amount suggested by my fundal height... apparently I have quite a bit of fluid :)
(and yeah, I know scan weights are also very approximate but nice to know it's not currently expected to be a 11lbs monster...)

That's what I was going to mention although I can't remember if I've already mentioned it at some point :o We had an episode of lazy Bean at 29+6 & because it was the 2nd or 3rd they decided to do a scan which they did the following day. All is well, the measurements at the scan were looking more like 32wks (so 2 weeks in front but they won't move our due dates because its not 3 weeks) but I looked at the paperwork from the scan again the other day & there was an estimated weight which was 3lb 13 on the day of the scan  I know it's estimated but I'm hoping that doesn't mean we're on for a mahoosive baby considering that was at 30wks so still 10wks of growing left unless Bean decides to put in an early appearance.

Mrs_B, maybe baby had a bit of a growth spurt? Mine seems to grow all of a sudden then nothing for a while.

But as said, they aren't very accurate.

sorry to hear some of you are suffering heartburn. hugs. xxx hope the gaviscon helps and if you take milk too. OMG ENO, we used to have that in Kenya and i used to just eat spoonfuls as a kid as i loved the way it fizzed on the tongue. They have stopped doing that here? what a shame. i loved that stuff. it tastes nice. hehe

Like mentioned here by mrsb i think , its true about just being pregnant. my world fell apart when i had the miscarriage in Jan so i am very grateful. The fear has just been brought on by the fact that hope all goes smoothly. you are right and i have not had bad heartburn (only a little bit) and no SPD like others have so bad. just little discomforts here and there, so i shouldnt complain at all. i always tell our bubba that he/she is amazing.. i just need to channel some positive energy into the labour fear.. i cant waitnow. thank you ladies for the reassurance.. i panicked slightly this evening as i am having those period type cramps and wondered what contractions would feel like? are they like these cramps or worse and they come and go. sorry really stupidly obvious questions but i dont know.. :)

Believe me Rups ... you will KNOW when the contractions start ... there's no mistaking them and in my experience very unlike crampy period pains!

Thanks JT100. it kind of makes me feel better than all i have at the mo are these cramps and not contractions lol. :) done enough thinking (over) today.. maybe time to go into bed and try and finish my stupid 50 shades book? i cant seem to finish them off. has taken me ages and i actually got bored of them, but once i start a book, i have to finish it no matter how silly or boring.

Think of the cramps as the 'warm-up' and your body adjusting and doing the final growing and stretching ... getting you ready for the big birthday (please don't worry about knowing if you are in labour or not ... you will have a "OMG this is IT!" moment)

    Good luck with the book!

Thanks hon.. good to know how to differentiate as before i was like 'what is this pain, is it normal?' and now i am like 'what will a contraction be like? a period type pain?'. i am sure mother nature will sort it out and my body will listen..

right i think me and my sore back are off to bed now after i have had my milk. thanks once again.. to the doc tomorrow to see if i have that urine infection still? night my sweet ladies. xx

I couldn't sleep, so I finished all the urgent paperwork I had to do for work and then I did the birth plan! I think I have it now but it looks a bit simple... I have two columns, one with things I would like to have and the other one with things I would like to avoid. Something like this:

    I'd like...
A water birth, dim lights and change posture
to attempt hypnobirthing techniques and breath out the baby instead of pushing.
My DH to cut the cord and skin to skin immediately after delivery
    Donate the placenta for research

    I would like to avoid...
Pain relief other than gas and air, lay on my back or be on stirrups, an intravenous drip.
Talk about pain or measure progression through levels of pain. Have an episiotomy, forceps or ventouse.
    Deliver the placenta by induction.

What else should I add? What have you got? What do you think?

Someone was saying how great it was being on maternity leave... I agree!!! :D I have enjoyed it very much. That said, I don't get bored easily at all, for me being able to do nothing is a pleasure in itself and I quickly find things to do, such as internet googling, online shopping, forum posting, tv watching (box sets and complete series!), resting, pampering, baking, reading and general being lazy... so I have enjoyed it very much so far!!! :D I keep thinking that I should cherish this opportunity to be lazy and look after myself, because once baby is here I will look after her and I probably won't care about anything of the above unless she is happily napping, and then I probably won't care either because I might use that moment to nap myself or look after DH!! So I am cherishing every minute of this maternity leave before the baby arrives. It also keeps me relaxed and in a good mood, I think the baby can feel that and I hope she is already learning to copy behaviours! Lol

I think I am going to go to bed... DH will get up in a couple of hours and I haven't even tried to sleep yet!! I just had to finish the work stuff, it was "optional" but it would be silly not to do it because it will look good on my CV and I had since June to do it... the deadline was the end of October but I got until tomorrow morning to do it... so yep, rushing and almost late!!! But at least now it is done and I can do other stuff. I keep thinking that I need to finish all my to-do list, otherwise my body won't go into delivery mood, but that's probably just superstition! On my list next, the hospital bag!!!! I should create the list of songs I want to listen to during labour too, I am planning to take the phone and the speaker. DH's task will be to remember the song to which the baby will be born! Lol
    Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Morning all :-) martadz I'm very impressed with you completing your to do list for work! Mine is still quite long and I haven't been in for a few weeks, but I keep telling myself that's ok as I've been in hospital and stuff.

All the discussions about when labour is real is quite interesting. 3 weeks ago I felt 'funny' all day and had period pains, something didn't seem quite right so I went into hospital and I was in early stages of labour - I just couldn't feel it properly because of all the fluid ?! Anyway they managed to stop it that time and I've been advised to go in again if the same thing happens - I think my cervix is a bit confused,it's shortened then lengthened over past few weeks :rotfl:

Anyway, today I'm due to see consultant again and he's booked me in for an hour so I'm assuming he'll drain fluid off me again  last time it brought on strong contractions so a but worried baby might arrive! But I'm 36 + 5 today so it wouldn't be too early.

I'm rather jealous of the birth planning, because I have gestational diabetes and baby needs op once it's born it feels rather out of my hands. I'd love a water birth, but that's not possible with all the monitoring they're going to have to do. Also with the pelvis thing as well I think I'm limited with positions! And I have a dodgy leg.... Ooh falling apart I am ;-) the only decision I've made is that an epidural would be last resort as it can slow things down and baby needs out ASAP - if this means a cut / forceps etc. so be it :(

Gosh I think I'm a bit glum - the thought of someone planning to stick a ruddy great needle in you does that I guess!

Have good days all, Pea x
