Bamama, that's one theory - the pressure of baby on the cervix might help it dilate a bit and also the being upright and walking will move baby into the right place. Mine's in the right place but not far enough down I don't think so I'll try a good stroll daily from now on.

ah, that's not so good. Hope it lets up but it might just be baby engaging; or alternately you might have painful Braxton Hicks? If it were me and it didn't let up I'd call the maternity ward just to check.

It's easing. Think baby has dropped as I have a bigger soft patch under my ribs. See how it goes now. Still getting kicks so baby should be fine

Evening all, wow that's a long appointment savage. At least they are being thorough. Nothing like that here, don't see anyone between 38 and 41 weeks and then just sweep at home at 41.

Busy day for me, achieved lots. Did spend £51 on big cat at vets as he's poorly just chilling with DD1 until DH comes home. Hope baby doesn't put in appearance tomorrow am as DH got a job 150 miles away:eek: but anytime before or after that would be most welcome

oohh look at us and our pains.. i got scared earlier too as am having back pains... then on the way home in the car, i felt period pains which have gonebut i still feel back pain .:( i told dh that i am terrified now of labour and esp the pain..he said its a new thing and was is the fact that we are having a baby, and i said no.. just the pain factor. i need to block that out of my head.

Rups, even if you do not do it, I would recommend you to read a hypnobirth book. I am not scared of the birth itself, nor about pains. I assume I will have them, but I do not think they will be anything I won't be able to cope with. The book helps if only to see the natural side of it, understand how pain is produced, the effect that fear has in pain and labour, and how you can put positive thoughts on your mind. I wish I had practised more all the techniques and everything, but even if I do not manage to do a proper hypnobirth (I have not been very constant with the whole thing), I know I already have a positive approach and it will definitely be useful when I am in labour. If you are concerned about pain, get a second hand book or something from ebay, even if you just read it once, I think it will have a positive effect. Birth is not about pain, is about getting your little one here.

well said marta and that is what i want to use in that time as a positive thing and remember that we get our child. i dont know where this fear has come from? it has jst been recent as initially when people told me all sorts of horror stories, i was calm about stuff and just let it go.. its been so recent that am getting scared.. i will use each contraction as a step closer to my baby.. thanks hon.. i have something on my mp3 player that i taped that i can listen to and i will listen to it at bed time as it will calm me.
