  • Hi ladies, hope you're all well and massive congrats to the new mummies - LM hope you're comfortable as can be and enjoying cuddles :D

Still the same here, still having mild contractions on and off all the damn time which are fine until one catches me unaware and I'm left pulling a fabulous face that amuses my oh a lot! Have an appointment tomorrow at 11am at the hospital which will now be with a consultant as well as the midwife as the contractions haven't intensified or my waters gone - we shall see what they suggest!

Had a lovely day yesterday at my parents, really is nice to go 'home' and was the first time since we've moved so had fab cuddles with my darling doggy & dealt with the stream of neighbours who saw my arrive with car seat etc in tow & assumed baby was here lol, so many disappointed faces lol.

Oh's 21st birthday today (yep, got me a toyboy lol) so he has a few friends round tonight for pizza, Xbox and a couple of drinks - not sure its his idea of perfect celebrations but he won't go more then about 10ft away from me atm incase something kicks off which is lovely but a little annoying when I go to the loo etc :rotfl: so can't convince him to go out.

Anyway enough rambling from me, off for a proper read back x

Holy moly! Someone moved the threads around. i'm confused!!!

Afternoon peeps! How is everyone? I have been lurking but starting clear up at work so have gotten a wee bit busier.

Congrats to any new babies who have arrived in the interim and welcome to any newbies who have taken the leap to posting in here - scary as it looks. Although it does seem to have gotten a lot quieter recently.

Big congrats to LittleMoog - have been lurking to see if you'd had baby yet. Lovely name. Hope you're recovering ok.

Weight gain?? (says she getting rid of the evidence of a Frys chocolate cream bar). I have put on weight but I'm not going to get upset about it. I lost 3 and a half stone after DS and I will lose whatever after this one. it took me 9 months to put that weight on and 9 months to take it off again. Don't have to lose it all in 9 days (although i am secretly jealous of those who find it easy!). Bf'ing does make you revenously hungry and this was my mistake with DS. i lost over a stone when I had him and I put a lot of that on by eating too much when I was bf'ing. I know what to expect this time and I'm going to try very hard to control it. Watch me fail!! hahaha!

CL - I can't believe you're that close to baby arriving already! Where has that time gone???? Am getting mildly traumatised by how fast I'm moving up that list!

Hmph - turning over in bed?? Requires getting out and then getting back in again - stupid PGP. Any movement at all requires pain and crying. I am such a wuss!

Morocha - huge hugs for you. i'm glad you seem to have made a decision that suits you at this point in time. I have been following your posts even if I wasn't posting.

Right - back to lurksville for a little while longer! Be back soon!

Nice to see you about Neph. Don't go too far as it seems like we should be getting quite a few announcements this week.

Bless your OH, DDB. Wish mine wouldn't go anywhere. He keeps getting sent away with work :( luckily only "day trips" but I still worry that something will kick off just after he leaves and then he won't be able to come back for hours!

Neph !! you have been hiding !! Thanks for your words. When do you go on maternity leave ? how far are you know ? xx
MP, baby wont be in there forever, one way or another it will be born soon.
DDB how sweet of ur bf to want to be near you all the time.
bamama i was going to suggest Tesco too, i am getting my sheets and all that for my cot from them.

  • I have those Moses basket sheets from Tesco and they seem ok and are the cheapest ones out there.

I have no idea how much weight I've put on, I promised myself that i would not weigh myself during pregnancy as I know how much I can beat myself up about putting weight on so making the most on having a free rein on food. I have a few pairs of knickers that feel tight on me as well Marta, have hidden them to the back of my drawer for after the baby is born.

    Congrats Little Moog!

DDB - your OH sounds like a sweet guy, hope he has a good birthday night!

He he... "a pair", my problem is that I only have a couple of pairs that fit now!! And those are the maternity ones I bought a size bigger "just in case".

DDB, that's lovely, he shows he cares and wants to be there. It is a good compromise, I would say, instead of going out, he takes the friends in :)

I have 2 fitted sheets, 2 flat sheets, 1 cellular blanket for moses basket and 1 for pram (I guess I can fold it now). We were given 2 fleecy blankets and the moses came with a quilt. I told DH we cannot use those last ones because baby could asphyxiate, but he says that in the antenatal classes the mw said we could use them as long as they were not tight but loose and away from face... I am not sure now what to think. I thought anything that was not a cellular blanket was a "no no", unless it was a grobag and that only if the baby was big enough. I plan to use muslin cloths on top of the fitted sheet, as ikkle or sexymouse suggested, so I do not have to change them so often. I have two grobags, one for newborn, one for 0-3 months, but it all depends of how big she is! I will try first with all that, and then decide later on how many more I need, if any. Tesco ones are good value, better online than in store, by the way. I went on Monday and in store they were almost £5 a pack of 2, whilst online they were £3.50 or so, on offer, for two. Only colours: cream, blue and pink (I think).

Can I get away with buying some cheap double bed flat sheets and cutting them down for the moses basket? Iron on hem the edges?

    just use pillowcases
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

xx Mama to a gorgeous Cranio Baby xx
  • I didn't know maternity knickers existed Marta, no idea why. I expect that as the weeks go by, more and more pairs of knickers will be making their way to the back of the drawer. Don't blame you for not wanting to buy any more now that you've not got long left.

I think using pillowcases as Moses blanket sheets are a good idea. I don't have any spare ones but don't mind getting the cheap sheets from Tesco, they are probably as much as buying new pillowcases but suppose you could reuse the pillowcases unless you are like me and have to have them matching the duvet cover.

    Lol morocha :rotfl:
    I am jealous!!!!

QueenB, they are pretty much like normal knickers, they just sit low and they might be slightly wider, compared to my other ones. But maybe it is just the style that is different. I bought them at Mothercare,
