Ikkle in that book says that newborn should be feed every 3 h counting from the beginning of the first feed until the next one, so as you said every 2-3h. Also mums should wait until the baby regained their birth weight and gain 30g per day before starting any routine. So no expressing before that.

As for the first days I will try to breastfeed as is such a hustle to try other ways as we only produce tiny amounts per feed.I will need to make sure the baby attach well to the breast...

Savage if you are going away somewhere with a microwave you van ger microwave steriliser bags. Each does 20 goes. I used them with my first to sterilse my pump whilst away, in the end I used them at home on the odd occasion I cba within the big steriliser. They are about £5 from memory I got mine from large tesco but have seen them in boots. Made by lindam. HTH

Morning everyone,

Hope you had a better night than mine. I keep getting these heartburn every night and they keep me awake. Today I'll buy some Gaviscon as I need my sleep.

Rups I don't have any s*x life anymore. My OH doesn't really want to do anything as he's worried about the baby. I keep telling him that it's safe but of course he doesn't want to touch me. Perhaps is also the fact that my body changed soooo much and I'm not sexy anymore.. Anyhow, I'm not too bother as he is really sweet and careful with me and he was soooo good and nice during this pregnancy. He wants this baby more than me and he will be a great dad as he is a fantastic partner and husband.

Hi ladies, hope you're all enjoying your weekends and getting some rest ahead of work tomorrow or indeed enjoying being 2 days closer to mat leave!

No baby here lol, cramps lasted until yesterday evening but all gone now and back to normal albeit totally overcome with a need to clean etc - think I'm finally nesting! Babys room is almost done, just waiting on my oh to hang a couple of pics and wall hangings and we're done - not incredibly 'girly' but I like it

Re: sex life I think we've been incredibly lucky in that my urges haven't ever decreased infact at times I've been ridiculous with how often I've wanted it and my oh has been the same thankfully! we've already had the chat about how long we have to leave it afterwards and tbh the thought of 6 weeks seems like a LONG time but I imagine lack of sleep and bubs in the room will probably reduce both our desire and energy lol.

Breastfeeding is what I'm hoping to do solely, haven't bought a pump of any sorts but if things don't work out we can get one or indeed revert to formula, I'm not adverse to any way as ultimately so long as little lady gets what she needs thats all that matters.

Still no baby, but feeling better about it than yesterday. Been for a long walk and done a load of housework this afternoon, got some chillies to make a spicy noodle salad for dinner, and planning to jump DH later! As our NCT teacher kept saying, "what gets them in gets them out" and "oxytocin is the hormone of luuuurve" :cool::smileyhea

Wow. The list keeps moving!!!
I went again to do the hospital tour this.morning and I am glad I went before, because today the tour was cr#p, the mw showed US one room and the entrance, that's it. She said it was busy and could not show us the other areas but I think she also rushed it a lot. My previous tour was almost an hour, today was about 15-20 min. I got to ask a couple of questions: they said they encourage us to take snacks and drinks, including juices ( the mw at the antenatal said only water for me, snacks were for DH in case I needed some drugs, as it might conflict with the stomach), to take our own towel, definitely slippers and speakers for any music we want. I got a bit upset that the policy is to send DH home after the birth if it is after visiting hours, they said he could be with me between 8am and 10pm, but had to leave afterwards unless I am in labour. If if give birth at, let's say,.11pm, he would be able to stay a couple of hours and then he would be sent home. After insisting and putting face of abandoned puppy, she said any exception would have to be dealt with the head of midwifery on the day. We'll see, but I am not staying without him around!!! Oh, they do not allow flowers either iny hospital, if a visitor brings some, they stay.at reception in a bucket until you are sent home, when you can collect if they are still alive lol. They don't give formula, you have to take your own, but they will give you bottles and teats if you need them. I guess hospital policies vary around the country, but if anything surprised you, I would recommend to give yours a ring and check.

I still don't believe the EDD is getting so close, it's starting to sink in and I still don't feel ready!!!!

Marta, I think if you're planning to FF you need to bring your own but if you end up needing to because BF isn't working you'll be provided. I'm not sure though. We did get given a 'what to pack' list at the antenatal class I went to last weekend.
