Hey everyone. I've been posting on the Facebook group and have neglected this thread!

I had a midwife appointment this morning but I saw a different midwife as my midwife was having a day off. I'd been having horrible discharge and am really itchy and sore down there but when I phoned my midwife last week she didn't seem concerned. However it had got worse and I was worried I would have to fight my midwife to do some swabs. Anyway, this midwife did them no problem and asked for a GP to prescribe some thrush treatment whilst we wait for the results just incase it is thrush to get it treated straight away.

She also said that baby is 3/5 engaged (I'm 35+3) and I'm scared because I don't want him to arrive yet. We have hardly anything ready. Need to pack hospital bag/still waiting for baby changing bag/still waiting for moses basket (we're being kindly donated one by family) etc. I've been having period-type pains and was convinced at the weekend that I was going to go into labour but the midwife said it's most likely just baby engaging and moving around. I don't have alot of padding in that area apparently which is why I'm feeling everything!

She also did bloods to check for Obstetric Cholestasis as I'm excruciatingly itchy all over, but it's worse on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. She said it's rare but she wanted to check anyway.

She booked me in to see my normal midwife again next week due to the problems I'm having at the moment. She was so lovely. I like my normal midwife too but with this midwife, I didn't feel like she was trying to get rid of me!

Anyway, me at 35+3 (please excuse the rubbish photo).

LadyM... Glad you've done something about the discharge! Unlucky with the pains though. My Squirmy has it's head/bum under my ribs... can't quite tell which. But I can't lean forward any more

My bump looks so much bigger than yours too... and I'm two weeks behind you! Lucky bu66er.

LadyM, don't worry about the engaged thing, I also freaked when I was engaged (3/5) at my last appointment but apparently it doesn't mean baby is due to arrive any sooner. They would worry if baby wasn't engaging at the start of labour and you were going to try deliver naturally as it could then mean baby was too big for you (although this is rare as your pelvis can do all sorts of funky stuff to get big enough to push a baby out).

Argh, just remembered I should still pack my hospital bag even though I'm going to try a home birth in case I have to transfer in (also apparently a good idea as then everything is together in one bag so OH doesn't have to run all over the place looking for something!).

Umm, good question! I need to discuss with the consultant what the plan of action will be. Because of my last birth I will request that they book me in at 40+10 for a c-section if I haven't given birth by then. Potentially they might be happy to let me go a bit longer, or if baby is measuring big they might book me in before them.


My swim and jacuzzi were amazing- I'm going to try and go weekly until baby is here. It felt amazing to be weightless in the water. Then managed to do the shopping all on my own for the first time in weeks, so quite pleased with myself today .

We also decorated the kitchen yesterday- just a lick of paint and a move around but it looks much better now.
