yep, no denying it now. I think I must officially fall into the "heavily pregnant" category. I keep counting back, can it REALLY be 36 weeks and not 31/32?!

Hello everyone!

I've been lurking around these threads for a while, but thought I'd finally bite the bullet and join.

I've tried to add myself to the list, but each time I keep messing it up; I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing, but I lose all the numbers, genders, bold etc etc. Anyway, I'm due 17th February 2013 and we're probably having a little girl (not the most cooperative child already, at any of the scans or appointments!)

I've 25+1 today, time really is flying past at a rather alarming rate. Although, I'm sticking my fingers in my ears about you all saying it only gets worse from now on; it's aaaaaaaaages away and we totally have time to exchange and complete on the house, move in, get registered with everyone we need to, do our duties at Christmas etc etc.

Congratulations to all those who have announced births today. Cherry, your story has also made me feel a bit better about things; I think about things way too much and all the scenarios, especially post birth, and it was heartwarming to read what you wrote about realising it will all be OK.

welcome on here earring and congrats. not long to go at all. when i was in my 20s time flew and i cant believe i am not 33 weeks.:) i am trying not to panic about stuff too. hehe

Congratulations Cherry and thank you for sharing your birth story - I for one, find them really helpful and reassuring. As long as the ring of fire dies down though hey?!

I went to a physiotherapy session run by our NHS the other day and I can't tell you how helpful it was. Although I was the only pg lady there not already in some sort of pain she gave us loads of great preventative tips as well.

Ahh, thanks ladies, I hope my story can help you all, even if it is just a little bit. I know nothing will set your mind at rest because nothing could help me, no matter what anybody says. Your body is going to go through a massive change but it is made to to do that, I just kept thinking "this wont last forever, if I can just get past another hour, i'll be closer to seeing my baby".

I wont lie, I screamed, I moaned, I whinged, but I didn't cry! All the time beforehand I kept saying "I won't make a noise, you don't need to make a noise" But if you feel making a noise makes you feel a little bit better, do it!

I will say though, if you plan on having an epidural, make sure you ask for it earlier then you think you're going to need it! As soon as you start feeling like you can't relax yourself through the contraction then ask for it! I left it too late because I thought the pain wasn't going to get any worse but, don't try and be a hero, the pain relief is there for you to use and to stop you getting stressed out so use it!

Little Moog - Ahh the knitting sounds fab. I might try and master it on maternity leave! I'd be so proud of myself even if I could make a one-colour square big enough to be a blanket and nothing more than that! I think there are a few great Aunties who will be coming out of the woodwork to present us with knitted items which I'll be so grateful of - they are lovely on little ones!

I've got a lovely pattern for a blanket which is knitted all in one, only needs knit and purl stitches. You can get tutorials for basic knitting stitches on YouTube etc. Let me know if you'd like a copy
